Amongst the Igbos, there is a popular prayer by the parents of a new born child. "Nwa mu Ka Kwa m" which literally translates into, "May my child be greater than I am".

This short prayer leaves the lips of every parent irrespective of tribe and language. It is a redeeming quality in that in the utterance of these few words, blessings are released, hopes are built and dreams come alive.

The new parents go ahead to plan for their children's future. They deprive themselves of basic necessities in order to build a future for their child, the-one-who-would-be-greater-and-attain-the-heights-the-parents-failed-to-attain.

In line with this fervent desire, children are sent and sponsored through choice schools. Upon graduation, the child is expected to land a dream job with juicy pay to ensure a life of comfort for both parties.

But the shocking reality of our nation today has turned most dreams into mere illusions. Most graduates are forced to settle for 25k - 50k jobs in order to meet their daily needs. These group are forced into living from hand to mouth. Everything they earn goes before the next month. They do not even get to save. Saddled with an obnoxious and foul-mouthed boss, they have no other option than to wallow in self-pity and dream dreams of leaving the job though they never do. Fear of the unknown props them up to think themselves immensely relevant. They believe they are truly meeting needs and their absence would create a great vacuum if they left.

Others go ahead to acquire one entrepreneurial skill or the other. Then, frustration sets in when there is no money to set up shop. Of course to stay relevant in the business world, one needs money to buy some equipments as well as generate one's electricity in a nation where power outages rule Supreme.

In the midst of this, the new graduate reads up about business grants and begins the unending applications. Few get lucky while others don't.

Dear Hardworking Graduate, Longrich loudly screams, "There is a better and easier way."
