Retaliation makes you weak

in life •  7 years ago  (edited)

You want to pay them back in their own coin, right? An eye for an eye. Isn't it how it is supposed to be?

Dear reader, pay attention to this, digest it in your spirit and soul.

If you ever react to anybody based on who they are, or what they do to you, you just handed over your life to someone else to CONTROL.

Be the master of your own life. Control your actions and reactions. Do not allow another person control your mood, emotions or feelings.

Don't react to what they did in the same manner they acted. Be yourself. Show them you are different.

Countless times, I have seen myself in the position to mishandle those who did me wrong in the past. And believe me, sometimes the past hurt comes ringing in my mind, wanting vengeance. But I win. Yes, every time, I win. I overcome the temptation to retaliate. I choose to be myself and not "them"

I am in the world to heal and not to hurt. They have chosen what they want, I can't become what they chose for themselves.

At least if I have nothing good to offer, I'd rather be on my own than spread negative vibes.

Retaliation makes you weak. It means you are not in charge of your life. It means surrendering your will to another person.

I am in the world to heal and not to hurt.

A lot of people have handed their lives to others by bearing grudges and by being unforgiving. A proverb in Igbo language says 'oji madu n'ala ji onwe ya ', when you bear grudges, you hurt yourself, you loose your peace and your happiness. So it's in your own interest to show love to all, to heal and not to hurt.
Thank you dear for another wonderful motivational piece.

Thank you ma for reading.

oji madu n'ala ji onwe ya ',

Not only does retaliation and revenge make us weak, they also change us and sometimes turns us into those we are fighting.

You are right. Thanks for reading.

Revenge can be intoxicating but when we give in to it, we end up looking like fools at the end. Its not easy to control ourselves when our emotions are thinking otherwise but it's worth it. Thanks for sharing @ogoowinner

.. but it's worth it.

It is truly worth it. Thank you for reading Nma.

It's not so easy when it comes to dealing with anger from offenders.
It takes lot of maturity and composure to counter retaliation but it's just tge best to do...

Yeah. Thank you for reading.

One thing is to forgive, another thing is to forget. Nice write up. U too sabi. Thumbs up ma'am

It is not in your power to choose what to forget. Things like that work according to your memory capacity.

Although I hear people say "forgive and forget" always, such things are just rhetorical statement.

You are very right ma, keep it up mama, always flying

Thank you.

Well said @ogoowinner permit me to add little piece b4 i go.
Those that learn to forgive are often those with a large hearth. Also those that tend to succeed are also those with a large hearth, the spirit to progress and lead also lies within hearth.

Thank you for your contribution.

Revenge might interest someone one at times but in d long run you begin to wonder why you did it. Thanks miss for given is this. (winks)

Thank you for reading.

Yes, every time, I win. I overcome the temptation to retaliate.

Overcoming this act to retaliate is an art and getting enough strength not to fall into such is something we have to consciously strive towards. Thanks for this post @ogoowinner

Thank for reading and contributing @turpsy.

Inspiring

Thank you.

Good morning @ogoowinner and thank you for this. But what if the same person keeps hurting you over and over again knowing full well that you'll definitely keep forgiving. What then does one do in such a situation?

There should be a way to avoid such reoccurrence without necessarily retaliating.

Nice one... the best revenge na to move on and live a happy life.

True talk. Thank you for reading.

it make us weak for that moment for sure but it bring the best out of us in the long time and make us stronger too so that we don't have to face the same awkward challenge once again .

Thank you for reading and leaving a comment.

Hello @ogoowinner

Though you have made some valid point in this post, I however don't agree with all the ideas expressed here...

Retaliation makes you weak. It means you are not in charge of your life. It means surrendering your will to another person.

I think is good or rather justifiable to retaliate against some injustices, especially those that have no basis. You may not share this idea but honestly that's me...

Good post though

@eurogee

Everyone has his own perception of life.

Retaliation makes you weak. It means you are not in charge of your life. It means surrendering your will to another person.

Well said @ogoowinner because an O. A. P on radio today said something similar in this post this morning and now said by you again. Haha😂😂

The sweetest revenge is forgiveness

This post is so inspiring, and i love it. Revenge can be so disastrous so the best for it as a wiseone is silent.

Thanks for your comment here.

Yeah; unforgiveness is for the weak.

Forgiveness is an attribute of the strong.

So; learn to forgive. No pay backs

Life teaches us many lessons and this is one of them which makes us stronger

True. Thanks for your comment here.

Forgiveness is a key to alot of things most especially peace of mind

If you cannot forgive yourself, your mind will not be at peace

Be the master of your own life. Control your actions and reactions. Do not allow another person control your mood, emotions or feelings.

From the quote
I better forgive and be free with myself instead of holding anger and letting it affect my mood

Thanks for sharing miss @ogoowinner
