Moving Big in Canada

in life •  7 years ago

When I moved to Canada the first thing that caught my eye (besides the size of the country itself) was the size of cars, buildings, and equipment.

Today I want to share with you a few photos of structures and buildings which you can see traveling every day on the Highways, and even rural roads.

Even trains here are heavily loaded. They have containers in two levels and they are the last thing you want to cross your way. Once I was lucky enough to count them, being stuck in front the level crossing barriers. I counted until 100 and gave up.

Can you imagine the surprise when you see the house coming your way in the middle of nowhere? The funny thing was that I first spotted the roof since the road was tilted slightly downhill. At first, I thought the house was standing on the road by itself.

Do you need a workshop? On Wednesday? No problem, we got you covered.

Maybe a small private refinery? You are closed on Thursday? Then Friday will still be soon enough.

If you don't want to get your hands dirty we also have an office for you. Wi-Fi and AC included, of course.

That is all for today. I thank all of you that took the time to stop by.

Please, nevermind the bugs on my windshield. There was a big killing spree season at that time.

That is amazing :) no more packing and moving, just load up the house and let's go

You can cook dinner while you moving if you want.

If these things become ubiquitous enough, kinda reminds me of Lego / Minecraft. Just plug and play :D

I'm sure it already exists. Those are just photos I'd took randomly on my trips. If you have time to sit by Highway and observe the traffic for a couple of hours I think that you can build a small city from all the semi assembled stuff passing north towards Fort Mcmurry. Not so much last two years, but still some.

Lots of room for all kinds of stuff her in Canada eh! When we were kids my parents actually moved there house on a flatbed kinda like the blue one. They even needed the hydro company to escort the rig and raise some of the wires as they went. Thanks for sharing, brings back some memories.

You right, lots of room. If they bring here all those people talking about overpopulation and moving on Mars and that kind of crap. They would change their minds for sure. Thanks for stopping by.

I do not think I have ever seen a house on a truck before!

Here you can see it quite often. You can buy an older house in Edmonton and instead of demolishing it, you can sell it and the buyer then moves the house to his location and you built a new one. I saw the ad that it cost 25 to 30 thousand CAD to move the whole house.

That's quite cheap in the grand scheme of things to move It.

You just need a lot and you can buy 25 or 30 years old house in good condition and save big. And you can move in right away or even before you move it.

I could not imagine driving any of those trucks

hahaha tell me about it @cryptofixer

Upvoted and RESTEEMED :]

Plug and play house? Wow! Hahah

Literatly.

Well, one thing is apparent. Canada knows how to move big shit! Insane . . . Now that is a feat.

It's so big and wide country that it must be that way, otherwise, it's pointless and you don't get anywhere. Thanks.

woww!!! it's so surprised me, i never see before about that.
i can't imagine how the driver of trucks drive their cars

really stunning @oldtimer

Omg hey Im a canadian too!! Where is this btw? I remember in high school I used to take the train to go to school and sometimes there would be merchandise trains (like the ones on your picture) and some dudes I knew would jump on them and then jump back on the train platform. Insane stuff haha:P I hope you like Canada as much as I do! Best country in the world to live in :) xoxoxox

It's in Alberta, Edmonton area. Thanks for a comment.

Oh nice!! My pleasure! Id love to see Lake Louise one day!:P

Maybe in one of my next posts first.

haha sounds good keep it up!:)

We just take these things for granted.

That's why I didn't even think about posting this, but then I'd realize that it could be interesting for rest of the world.

We love our trucks and railroads - true north strong and free 🇨🇦

That's right. Go Canada.

Canadian cities are beautiful too.. just saying... lol

I live in Vancouver and looks way more different but very beautiful as well.

Vancouver is on my wish list. We made it till Penticton last year, so maybe next summer. Thanks for commenting, BC.

Lots of big stuff indeed. Every once in a while you see a house being moved on a gravel road. Tough to get around those.

Once I saw one on a trailer, fully decorated for Christmas with lights on the house and curtains in the windows.

Your post is in my opinion very nice and interesting, I like your post, you are very creative in choosing the object for you share, terimakasi you have provided information that bermaaf for us here in steemit, hopefully you can always make a good post, Thank you ..., may always be successful @oldtimer

Thanks. Appreciated.

Great Post! Reminds me of a 50 yard windmill blade I saw in Michigan. But come to think of it... was probably on its way to Canada!

WoW!

Surreal for sure!

I hate when I get stack behind one of those driving 30-40 with a bold line in the zone of 70kph ....@oldtimer.

Who doesn't?

Yes, I know...we all do....

OMG Those Trucks are massive 😱😱

anything is possible after seeing this post they can literally move anything.

That was great experience! wow! drivers are awesome they manage to bring houses to another place..

WOW ESPECTACULAR !!!! CANADA

Fun post!
Cheers from Vancouver :)

I live in Canada and I want to thank your sharing your new sights that thrilled you of Canada. It really is huge...Most of Europe can fit in it.. Nice to meet you @oldtimer. Hope to see more of you. :-)

Thanks for the comment.

I used to work for Toronto based Integrity Worldwide or IWW but never visited Canada :(

I've seen bridges break under load of these large trucks and heavy trains.

Probably it's happening but I never saw that yet.

I live in Canada and I can assure you that everything is bigger here if you know what I mean ;) jk have a nice day!

Thanks for kind words.

Canada is an awesome place with lots of kind-hearted people. Amazing country.

Wow, Canada looks amazing. Transport is at a different level. There's a lot of cargos on that train.

I've lived a good 10 years in the US and yet have never seen this in person. Looks amazing.

Probably you didn't live in an oil state.

a whole lot-a moving going on there!!

What I think is crazy to carry home.

In my country the houses are made of bricks, so it is an impossible reality for us.

This is amazing mobility of, things that would otherwise be immovable in smaller, less-economically sound countries.

Most of the moving is because of the oil industry.

Great post! I laughed so hard when I saw that moving house :D That is really strange to me! Thanks you for sharing thia wonderful post

I am impressed with you .. thanks information.semoga we can be friends well .. follow me @riansteem

Wow, 100+ containersis no small train. We live beside a train track and I've never seen one that long.

I wonder if that workshop delivers to the US? 😏

It's more like 200 if you consider that they are on two levels. Most of the time the composition has two locomotives and I think once I'd see even three. You don't need workshop anymore. You're on steemit now, he,he.

Wow, three would be pushing it. No low hanging bridges for that ride. Haha, 'tis true.

Great post @oldtimer. Please vote me thank you kasih

Please, don't beg for upvotes. Just write something nice. Thanks for stopping.

That's very cool friend.

Your vote is important to us. For which we thank you. And keep voting. @ahlawat
nice post

I'm still trying to figure out a guy who might be from the bulkans is in Edmonton, and I am assuming is an actual oldtimer with 100,000 steem. Yah.. just stick with unicorn.

I have never seen anything like this before, if anything like this would be passing on Swedish roads I think some might drive off the road in surprise :) By the way do you have contact with pentiction? Haven't seen her posts here for quite some time.. Is steemit blocked in Dubai ?

I did a post couple of days ago. They have some issue with the connection. I'm not sure what is going on, but @noperope will figure it out. He is qualified enough.

Great good to hear :)

I drove truck for a living but never hauled anything that size:-0

Hey dude!

I am planning on going to a UFC event held in Canada maybe even this year... We could hook up #teamsteem

Cheers!

Nice to hear that. Just a reminder. From Toronto to Edmonton is 4 hours with the plane. So you need to be more specific about location. Thanks for stopping by.

I'm just writing about my fear of flying lolz... Hope I survive it...

I dunnot know yet, where and when. But be sure I'll keep you updated when the wheels start turning ;)

Np, Pozdrav:)

Canada is special :P

Imagine you want to move but like your house too much, so you just load it up onto a trailer and take it with you
