Capacity building

Capacity building can be a challenging experience. This is because it stretches you and demands a lot of you. In physics, we are taught that any solid body can be stretched. There is an extent to which you stretch a body and once the pressure is relieved, it simply goes back to the state it was before it was stretched. Now there is something called an elastic limit; this is the maximum extent to which a solid material may be stretched without permanent alteration of size or shape. Once you stretch a body beyond this point, it can't go back to its previous shape. There is also a break-point; this is the point at which the material is so stretched that it just snaps. As you seek to develop capacity, the idea is to find that sweet spot between the elastic limit and the break-point. At this point, you are challenging yourself so much that even when the pressure is removed, you can no longer go back to the way you used to be. However, the stretching must not be so much that it will break you. It is a delicate balance indeed. You can develop capacity in your savings, exercising, reading etc.
