Human connections and communication require empathy. Empathy is when a person projects oneself into the position of another and reacts to their emotions. What distinguishes empathy from empath? And how to spot an empath?

The Larousse dictionary defines empathy as “the intuitive ability to put oneself in the place of others, to perceive what they feel”. It's a personality attribute that allows one to identify oneself from others and regulate one's own emotional responses. The empath can identify the source of emotion and decipher others'. This is deep within empaths.

Have you ever questioned why you told this stranger your worries so easily? Empaths can judge a person's character from the start. This type of individual may have immediate relationships with animals or trouble viewing violence and brutality on TV/film.

Empaths are sensitive to energy and emotions. The empath feels compassion towards both friends and strangers. Empaths use their highly developed senses and intuition to sense the world and others.

They understand people's emotions and experiences. What distinguishes empaths from empathizers? Empaths are more empathetic than typical and can relate to others. Because empaths feel and internalise their feelings, they do not always feel empathy like others.

Thus, the empath absorbs feelings wherever he goes. He can also feel bad feelings as his own. Care homes, retirement homes, and hospitals can create sadness, bodily illnesses, and exhaustion in this type of individual.

Some empaths perceive emotions more strongly. Noises, etc. will affect them differently. Empaths can recognise themselves in these features without creating a conventional profile:

They struggle to concentrate on dull things: Daydreaming empaths grow bored or distracted. If we don't stimulate them, their mind wanders till it loses touch with reality. Daydreaming is easy for empaths.

Empaths are strong thinkers who like to solve problems. When worried, they solve problems. For what? Their goal is peace of mind. They act similarly in their dreams, dreaming in detail and intrigued about the topic. They will relate their dreams to reality to comprehend them.

They exude warmth and compassion, which draws others in and makes them feel comfortable sharing personal details. Empaths and animals bond more easily.

Empaths learn by listening and getting better at it. They can be outgoing, happy, and funny, yet their moods might change based on their thoughts and feelings. Joy and depression are easily triggered in them. Empaths can't hide their sadness—it appears on their face. So they can't act cheerful.

They dislike restrictions: empaths value freedom and expression. They hate stringent rules, control, and regularity. They want to find life's meaning and learn about numerous topics. Empaths appear intelligent to others and love to praise others' accomplishments.
