In the past, they, like other doctors, were wearing white overcoats.This color was a symbol of purity, and even such clothes, if they happened to stain with blood, were simply faded with chlorine. Only in the second half of the twentieth century surgeons began to gradually move to a bluish-green color. It turned out that everything depends on how the human eye works. The green color is most suitable for operations because the color spectrum is opposite to the red color. It helps the surgeons better see. The thing is that green is the most peaceful one for the eyes, the same time red has a strong irritant. Surgeons have to look for blood for a long time, so the eyes gradually become insensitive to this color. But green helps to smooth the load on the eyes. In addition, focusing on red tones can cause a green blush of illusions on a white background. This can happen if the surgeon looks at the white anesthetist or surgery nurse's overcoat. But the green cloth helps to smooth this effect and does not distract. There is no detail in medicine, and even an insignificant thing as a fabric color may turn out to be very important!
