Hey guys,
Once again we're doing a People are Awesome! This time it's about a man. He became the first Muslim, the first Arab and the first Saudi Arabian to win the Toastmaster International of Public Speaking in it's 84 year old history . He survived seven rounds of competition that lasted six months and included 33,000 competitors from over 100 countries around the world.
He and nine other finalists competed at the Toastmasters annual convention at the Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, and he took home first place for his speech - Power of Words!
Most impressively it is under the premise that he spoke his first word at the age of six. Through his stuttering he was teased in school. What then moved him to join the Toastmaster organization in 2009. He said that he never expected to win.
Titles and trophies are not important to him, said Mohammed. For him, it would be the most beautiful thing, when someone will come in 10 or 15 years and say, "Your speech from that time inspired me to change my life and fight my fears.
We were so inspired that we tried to reach him via Facebook, Linkedin, and E-mail to get him excited about an interview for our Steemit blog. Unfortunately without success. So far we have not received an answer. (What is not, can still be).
Nevertheless, his story inspired us so much that we are telling it anyway. Steemit is about Words just like Mohammed's story. We use words in our comments, in our posts and words to communicate with our friends, families and fellow human beings. These words have the power to bring someone from the slums of life and make them a successful person or they can destroy someone's happiness.
We can also use our mouths to spit poison or repair a broken soul. So please always think of the story that Mohammed tells you below. If you post or say something in future, think well and use your words wisely, because
Words have Power!
The Power of Words - Mohammed Qahtani
Here are Mohammed Qahtani´s Rules for Success:
- Remove the word "impossible" from your dictionary. If a man who stuttered til he was 6 years old can become the world champion of public speaking, then you can do anything. Believe in yourself.
- Seek the help from everyone and anyone. He never considered asking for help, but many people stepped up and offered their assistance. You don't have to do it alone.
- Surround yourself with positive people, those who will encourage your dreams, not the naysayers.
- Get rid of negative thoughts.
We are hoping, that Mohammed has inspired you with his speech, as well as we throughout our post.
Words have Power!
