Why I like Al Pacino

I was born two weeks before the shooting of “Godfather” movie.

How could I miss such an event?:)

I don’t remember when I saw Al Pacino for the first time; it seems to me that I know him all my life…

Time and things changed but my interest in the personality of this talented and even genius actor and my devotion to his art didn’t ever change.

I watched all his movies a great number of times. And I waited for every new film where Al Pacino starred as a kid waits for a Birthday or Christmas present.

The characters he played became an integral, essential part of my life. They inspired, taught and helped me in different situations and during hard time of my life.

Tony Montana (“Scarface”) showed me how to be decisive and persevering. Success is a kind of a risk to lose yourself and ruin all your life.

Thanks to Frank Slade (“Scent of a Woman”) I learned to find sense in simple things and to keep appetite for life. He taught me to continue in spite of the circumstances.

“I always knew what the right paths was. Without exception, I knew. But I never took it. You know why? It was too damn hard!”

Vincent Hanna (“Heat”) showed me how to be a professional in everything what I do, to be devoted to my life business, to be what I am. And no matter who I am and what I do.

Сarlito Brigante (“Carlito's Way”) taught me not be afraid of changing my life and be always ready to pay the price for my choice.

John Milton’s (The Devil’s Advocate) lesson was to remember that the favourite sin of the devil is vanity.

Frankie and Johnny (“Frankie and Johnny”) showed how to believe that there is a chance for a new love and a new life even if you don’t expect anything anymore. But if you want to enjoy life to the full, you need to learn how to overcome your fears.

Tony D'Amato (“Any Given Sunday”) taught me to fight “every inch”. “You find out life's this game of inches, so is football. Because in either game - life or football - the margin for error is so small. I mean, one half a step too late or too early and you don't quite make it. One half second too slow, too fast and you don't quite catch it. The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break of the game, every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone else around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when add up all those inches, that's gonna make the fucking difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!”

Sometimes I asked myself, why is he so close to me? What’s about him?

I’ve got the answer, he is real and natural. It sounds like nonsense, because he is an actor and all his life he plays roles and pretends to be another person. But he is so flesh and blood, so true and so sincere!

Every time he is preparing for a new role, Al Pacino becomes a different person - a character he shows.

People’s sincerity is the thing that draws my attention; it is the very thing our world full of lie and hypocrisy lacks so much.

Though we haven’t met in real life, I consider him to be my best friend, who can help at any moment. And in some difficult moments of my life only his deep, kind and calm eyes saved me from desperation, disappointment and pain.

People say that every person should have a dream. It can be a bit crazy but achievable at n and the same time.

My cherished dream is to see him with my own eyes and to watch him playing a role. I wish to dip into his wonderful unforgettable charisma.

Though I live in the center of Europe – in Ukraine and he lives in the heart of America and the whole ocean separates us, I hope that my dream will come true.
And hope will never die!:)
