FINALLY TESTING OUT OUR FIRST "HOMEMADE" GOAT MILK!

in life •  7 years ago  (edited)

This has been a long time coming!

When we first picked up Daisy our milk goat, the purpose of having her here on the homestead was to milk her and drink her milk. After allowing her to raise her own kid, and milking her to feed some bottle babies, we finally got around to testing out some ourselves. In this video, we give it a go!

MILK - IT DOES A BODY GOOD!

So, I suppose that those of you who don't watch the videos may be wondering how it tasted and if we liked it. Well, since a picture is worth 1000 words, I'll let this photo of @mama-pepper give you an answer for me.

This is just one more step forward for us, and we are very excited about it. Now @mama-pepper and Pinkie-Pepper want to have this be their chore, and they are eagerly awaiting getting up in the morning to go milk her again! How cool is that?... having a child excited about doing chores! LOL!

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

Until next time…

I admire goat milk
I purchased the Meyenberg's brand.
It is tasty.
Like it.
I need to try it with Oreo one day.
Keep on postin'

Average...not very tasty

Glad to see it was a success!! Pretty exciting that you're starting to get milk in. Had to chuckle at the Oreos...at least if the milk turned out not so great, there was going to be compensation.

Our kids have guzzled down goat's milk when they've had a few opportunities to try it. I like it's slightly citrus flavor and I'd agree it seems kind of creamier than cow's milk.

It'll be fun to try goat's milk yogurt sometime in the future, I bet...

howdy papa-pepper! lol the oreos made as much of an impression as the goats milk according to all these comments! home-grown milk, very wise, healthy and money saving strategy. great job!

A glass of milk of Daisy with OREO it's lovely to have one goat like this, the goat milk is so healthy for everyone.
Good experience sir.

@mama-pepper was smart to think of oreos. What goes better with fresh raw goat's milk than cookies? @ironshield

Lured in by an Oreo. Oh those things are dangers! Why you just can’t have one or an entire pack of them…

Great to see you move forward on your dreams of a better life.

Oreo biscuits are very tasty with a mixture of milk.

I really enjoyed Goat Milk I have only had it twice in my life and it was many years ago at the LA County Fair in Pomona, Ca.
I remember it tasting sweeter than cows milk, It was very good tasting.

It seems you do a good job of presenting chores, not as chores, but as cool things to do. Things that add to life in significant ways with immediate payoffs. Kudos to your parenting style. You are teaching the little peppers good life skills, and attitudes.

Drinking pure milk is a good thing and healthy body. @papa-papper and @mama-papper have invited us to drink pure milk.

Pure Milk

Pure milk is the best quality milk you buy at the store. Whole milk is better for the human body. We should drink pure milk every day.

Indeed, pure milk is more expensive than milk sold in the market. That's because pure milk has a better taste. In fact, we can treat body fatigue by drinking pure milk.

looks good

OREO one of my favorite biscuits <3

Awesome!! Now you will have to learn how to make goat cheese! :) mmm

goat milk tastes just like cow milk.

it is a favorite snack in indonesia

Seems u love pepper so much ... going with the name@papa-pepper
Very good article , ive never tasted goat milk before,, so I don't really know much about it.

The Oreo cookie I believe is the most sold cookie ever and it has a suspicious appearance like the Mayan calendar. Just joking there. Is goat's milk with an Oreo a valid test? It is an Oreo! Tastes good with most anything.

Wow! Thanks for that!

Cute video. A little reservation on the goat milk. :-)

Great post, love the @little-peppers reactions to the goats milk. :D Your youngest was the only one that didn't want to try it, but he'll come around eventually I'm sure. :D
God bless you and the whole pepper clan. :D Have an awesome day my fabulous friend! :D

Yeah. It looks like Buddy-Pepper still prefers mom's milk!

He's still young and I'm sure he'll like it eventually. :D I've never had goats milk my self. Is goats milk creamier than cow's milk like your daughter said in the video or do you find it to be the same?
God bless you and the whole pepper clan. :D Have an awesome day my fabulous friend! :D

I'm not much of a cook - but this looks simple enough to make. Have you tried cooking while sipping on a Amber Ale?

Love the happy taste testing video! To me, goat's milk is definitely better cold and eaten with homemade cookies! Preferably oatmeal raisin! Then there is also goat cheese!

Amazing I did not watch the video but the photo explain it all. I have never had a taste of goat milk I will probably try it.

Once you're hooked you won't be able to go back :) words of caution lol. Also fun fact, goats milk can have as high as 6% butterfat content making it more nutritious than cows milk which generally has 4% (if you have a good jersey) so kudos to you all!

Yes! Alpine/Nubian for the win!! We left our goat, Bubblegum, with my parents when we left California. She's actually part Saanen as well and at 4 yes old still produces 3/4 gallon daily. That combo is the cleanest tasting goat milk I've ever had. I used to have people think I'd given them cow milk instead!
