LIVING IN A TRAILER

in life •  6 years ago

Yes, mobile homes may not exactly be for everyone, but this one works for us.

In this video, I share a bit about why we are excited to have this mobile home on our property. While talking to someone about it, my wife was met with a person questioning why it is exciting. Simply put, because we actually bought it, we don't have to pay any rent or mortgage payments, which we think is reason for excitement. Anyway, check it out and see what you think.

Whoa, thats cool bro! You can move your house easily whereever you want 😊

That we can! We moved it here after we bought it! Thanks!

Nice house anyway!...:)...

this is the real home

I personally think mobile homes are awesome, and a great way to go if you're into homesteading... because a lot more people can afford to buy one outright and become truly independent, than can afford a stick built home.

Two years ago we bought a double wide. It sits on a small piece of property that we rent for the moment... the house is 1350 square feet and in the next five years we will be moving the house to our property. So the house is paid for.. the property will be paid for in cash... we have about 60 months to continue socking away the money for the property.

As you said, we were able to pay cash for the house. It was made in 2005 so considering all the house out there, it is still fairly new.

We've already gotten some vague pricing on moving the house to the general area we are looking at property and considering what we saved on a mortgage, property taxes now, etc.. the cost to move this home is pretty cheap.

Nice! That's a good way to go!

I really like it Papa. Like you said, no rent, no mortgage, nothing and you own it, so why not? This is smart and economical and you have chalked off $600-$700 as you have suggested. That's something. I understand your excitement and joy or happiness is relative, so if others don't understand the excitement, as long as you do, that's what matters.

When are you taking us on a tour inside? Hahaha.

Good point! I should probably do that.

Yaaaaay!. That would be exciting Papa. Many thanks.

I wonder if its movable?

Why not? Absolutely.

It is. You just put some temporary wheels beneath it.

I meant such a huge once as this one. I remember when i was a kid we used to have them in a kibutz in Israel. But I cant remember if they ever moved them

I always thought this was a great way to go. Get a used mobile home. Put in a well and septic sized for said future home. Build a house when you can. Then you could probably recoup what you paid for the trailer for what you paid.
Win win!
God bless the Peppers!

Ah ... I would do this

Now, will you start building a house or an addition onto your trailer first?
I'll be watching

We don't know, but we will see.

Personally I like your life styles, really your are a great person sir. thanks a lot for sharing.....

Uh oh..... what's all this then? Looks suspicious...

Good to see! We lived in a Mobile when we were first married, and raised two kids there! We moved into a brick home in the Burbs which we now own.

We decided to move to the country, with a few restrictions. We decided that we would have zero bills, so we had to find property that we could afford to pay cash for. This does limit things, but I was able to find a place, and was surprised to see that it has a 16 x 72 Mobile on it already. I am working on the Mobile, to allow wheelchair access, and to run totally on Solar power. I am also repairing some internal damage, but it will make a comfortable home. We will sell this house, and let someone else pay the extortion in taxes every year on this house! Our taxes on the land will be under $100 a year. Running off of solar, which is ALL already here, except the battery (I have a third of that collected now), will give us good options, and no utility bills.

We are a little strange, We are currently on the grid, but planning to fire those vampires. I also plan to run heat and air from my solar power source. Adding significant insulation in the repairs / rebuild, with new windows will help me reach this goal.

Congratulations on a very nice, PAID FOR Home, Well done Sir! :)

let someone else pay the extortion in taxes every year on this house

LOL - I know that feeling! We used to pay over $1500 each year for a 1/4 acre lot in the city with a home on it. Last year, our taxes were $34 for our land, but that's just because we didn't actually live on it. This year, I'm suspecting that the $350 homesteading credit will offset anything that we would have owed.

Same here, we pay $1500 here, after Homestead Exemption kicks in!

I plan on setting two, high, 40 foot, containers exactly 60 foot apart, and roofing between for my shop building.

That Mobile looks solid, and we raised our Little Peppers in one just like it! No bills is great, Party on dude, LOL! :D

Great mobile house.
Visit me here @coolguy222 maybe you like something.

Thats not a mobile home, its a mansion man! Mate you got it made. You got the land, you got a home, you got a great family. Nothing else matters. Life is great, enjoy. You deserve.
Best wishes to you, the wife and the kids :-)

Very exciting for you and your family!

Beautiful house It sounds like bristi's sound in such a room.

Awesome
You are right on.....!!!!!!!
@papa-pepper.
I have a small off grid cabin.
I love it..
I own it.
Wonderful to own your own home.
😊🤗

A home is where you hang your hat at night. It is where your heart is, your family. If you are living debt free and you are happy, who cares what you live in? I love the idea of a trailer/mobile/tiny home! It makes you more organised and more of a minimalist. No room to collect stuff! I have downsized many times through the years and I am looking to do it again. This is a very exciting time for the family. Enjoy every minute!

No room to collect stuff!

Nice way of looking at it!

Minimalism is a great way to live! My cousin lives by it. He saves a lot of money and does very well.

We purchased our mobile home used for $4000, about seven years ago. As parents of a young child, and with modest income, we were sick and tired of paying such a large chunk of our money on rent! We lived in a trailer park for the first two years and paid lot rent ($300 per month--a third of the price of average rent in our area for a comparable home), and then moved the trailer onto our own property. We're now in the early stages of figuring out what kind of housing we'd like to do next. We're a bit tired of the trailer with its less sturdy building materials and weird space economy, and we're ready to move on to something different. But we are also very thankful that we were able to own the roof over our heads and save so much money while our daughter was little. It meant we could homeschool her, and spend more time together as a family, rather than always chasing dollars. I'd recommend buying a used mobile home to any young family just starting out, or any single person who would rather save their hard earned money than blow it on rent.

Amen to that! Very excellent advice!

Hey, It may not be for everyone, but I think everyone should try it at least once. I still miss ours, the property more than the trailer, but moving from there was one of those God things.

Not having to pay rent or a mortgage gives you a huge step up financially versus a majority of the population. Most people probably don't understand that because we've been taught that it's good to take on as much debt as we can to get as big of a house as we can, and then pay it off over 30 years. It adds a lot of stress to have those types of bills, but lots of people still do it. There are many ways that you're really ahead of the curve by doing things that lower your expenses and allow you to spend more time with your family.

Hiya @papa-pepper, just to let you know i have made your liquid fertilizer out of stinging nettles, i have made a post about it and popped you init. didn't want you not to know. If you don't like the post let me know and I will take it down.
Love and peace as always

@artonmysleeve

I'll check it out! Thanks man. I probably would have missed it!

Such a wondeful feeling and you can sleep in peace ,when you don’t have to worry about monthly payments on a house. I celebrate with you!!!! Home Sweet Home for the Pepper’s !!! God bless you and your family 😍

I wasn't able to watch the video (I have a bad connection at the moment). I have to agree with you though, owning your home outright is exciting. We currently rent but bought a caravan as a second home on a different island for that very reason.

I am happy that you like to live as you live :D

One man trailer park .....COOL..........Keep the back of your neck covered so you won't be mistaken.... ha ha
