WE JUST GOT OUR "STEEM-POWERED" CULVERT - PROGRESS ON THE HOUSE SITE!

in life •  7 years ago  (edited)

For those of you who do not know, the @papa-pepper tribe is currently staying in a guest house near the land that we just purchased.

In the near future, we are planning on building a house for our family. We've got a lot of work ahead of us, but praise God that steemit is able to help us reach our goals. After having a bad morning yesterday, I had a great afternoon. Yes, I was sweating up a storm getting things done, but I also noticed that a trailer full of 24" culverts was heading up the drive.

My good friend and neighbor @jaguarlife is also hard at work building a home for his family. Recently he mentioned that he was going to pick up some culverts for his driveway. I jumped on the opportunity and had him get one for me too! The most incredible part is that money I gave him for the culvert was provided by some of my earnings on steemit, hence the "STEEEM-Powered" culvert!

With this culvert installed, we can now access the building site and the area that will be the driveway from the gravel road that runs the length of the property. This will make things much easier for us. Also, not only did @jaguarlife pick up the culvert and have it delivered, he used the mini-excavator and skid-steer that he had to install it for me. For the most part, I got to watch and take pictures. Don't worry, though, I can supervise like a boss! LOL.

Anyway, this was a huge step forward for us. This post will mostly be a photo-post of the process. Enjoy the photos! I also mixed in a few GIFs.

HERE COMES MAMA!

As an added bonus, I let @mama-pepper drive the @little-peppers across the culvert as our first traffic. I told her to get used to it, because we hope to be using it for years to come!

Also, even though he doesn't know it yet, I'll be giving the liquid SBD/STEEM payout from this post to @jaguarlife for all of his hard work. It took him about an hour total to put this in for me, and when I asked him what his hourly rate was, he laughed and told me not to worry about it. What a good friend and great neighbor! He should be joining us shortly, as he has created an account but has yet to post. Make sure to thank him and welcome him when he gets here!

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

It is always a fun day when you get to work with heavy machinery.

Lol, some things never change.

I especially like your "verification" photo for today. The shape from the inside, with you looking in, kind of reinforces your post about shapes and kindness. I like.

LOL, right! Shapes and kindness! Good point!

What an awesome project! I could never have imagined what this process would like like. Thanks for sharing, @papa-pepper. I'm not much of an outdoors man myself, so your posts make me feel a lot better. Congrats on the Steem powered culvert!

its definitely a lot easier using an excavator vs. having to dig the trench by hand. been there....not fun :)

Big difference in the amount of effort and time it takes.

First, congrats on the successful installation and testing of the culvert! Looks good @papa-pepper!

Second, it is just awesome to read that Steemit is enriching the lives of so many people. That's what I love about this platform. And you're doing a great job here, I hope your house build turns out great and hopefully Steem will help pay for most of the work as well!

Steem On!! :)

interesting stuff good hard work

Nice work @papa-pepper!

That looks like a ton of work, but you are going about it the right way! The more you can nail the "foundation" type items from the beginning, the less time and energy you will have to spend on maintenance instead of the rest of the homestead. I have to ask though.... how are you handling the heat? As a Yooper, I think I would have melted by now!

that looks good man and very interesting.

Nice project good luck😊😊😊

That is a huge deal! Congrats and it's awesome how it was paid for.

Great Post Again!

Starting to take shape. Niice.

How much does it cost to make a culvert ? Lol 😂😂😂

I THINK it was between $300 & $400 USD.

Amazing @papa-pepper. Good to know you are building your family house. I know it is not easy but step by step you will get there. Having been doing one for close to 4 years now I know what it takes.

I just wanted to use this opportunity to bring our community project to your attention. The project is targetting african minnows and it is about a bot @msp-africa which is meant to upvote posts from African minnow participants.

The post seeking for the support can be found here. https://steemit.com/steemit/@richguy/support-msp-african-bot-give-africans-minnows-voice.

Thanks in anticipation. Even if it means helping to let others know about it. It will be appreciated.

Last line I loved it. I have invested my 20% portfolio in steem now. Planning to add more in coming days.

A great neigh or indeed. I get to hit upvote 420. Yaay!

Amazing work. @jaguarlife is a beast. :D
I know you don't like promotion, but it's for the good cause. :)
I just created a little FreeArt Challenge challenge you might be interested in. Who knows? The payouts are really small for now, but if someone like you participate, it would be much much much higher. Cheers El Papa!

Sweet! This sounds like an exciting project!

  • There was an interesting Les Stroud (Survivorman) Documentary called... Mmm "living off the grid" I believe it was, where Les purchases land and then moves his family out of the city for a year. They build a totally off the grid home, dig a well, problems ensue etc...

You might find it interesting or inspiring perhaps ~

The beginning is now official. You use to carry the bride over the threshold. Now the bride drives over it. lol

Lol, good point.

Steemit is changing the lives of people unlike any other social media. In future we will see a big projects being run by the steemit support or donations.

Hello @papa-pepper, I wish you a speedy completion on your new home. And very nice of @jaguarlife to help you out.

@papa-pepper
Real life, real work, real progress. This is why you are so successful - authenticity. Everyone is so tired of the fake news, fake messages from advertising. Sometimes they just want to watch a guy go out into his garden, dig up a mole, and make a video about it. That's why I built my own canoe a couple of years ago - I just had to reconnect with the world around me in a kenetic way. Do you canoe?
CanoeBuild_07.jpg

It all starts with a dream and a steem powered culvert ! Yeah for you guys. 🐓🐓🐓

Nice progress man!

Well supervised, it even ended up in the right positoin, well done team.

Nice post, I hope that you and your family can meet all of the goals proposed. Greetings, I follow and upvote. Please read my post would be very great but is in Spanish. <3 cheers from venezuela
