Greetings, Steemians and Steemettes!
Good morning on this beautiful Saturday! We finally managed to leave the accursed Friday the 13. behind us, godbless. I still can't believe that I actually ended up having such misfortune yesterday. I will get myself ready to leave the house right after writing this in order to find a suitable way to fix the situation. Until that, I finally continue this story!
Tell me how you like these new designs. I really wanted to try something new for a change.
Chapter 10.
Don't let that great price tag fool you, I grabbed the book for free out of a book case. That thumb belongs to me, don't take it away!

Tony Mendez and Vince Leone are on their way to the home of Zander Zahn, the somewhat strange man they met earlier who is socially awkward. They are accompanied by Zahns assistant Rudy Nasser whom we got to know in the last chapter. We get some banter between the characters but we don't learn anything substantial from it. Only that Zahn is, on top of his established quirks, also a hoarder.
Getting to his house we find that the apparently owns a lot of refrigerators, among other things. For what, we do not know and maybe we will never know. Mr. Zahn needs a little bit of convincing in order to let Nasser in together with our two detectives. Upon being told by Vince that Haley seems io be stable at this point and able to make it out alive, he relaxes and invites them in. After a small tour through his house, the four of them sit down together and talk for a bit.
Nothing of substance at first. Zahn finds a spurt of energy and motivation in finding that detective work is similar to trying to solve math problems by giving numbers meaning through putting them into the right context.
This trail of logic makes him a lot or talkative. H rambles a bit about this and that, nothing substantial. As he is towing off to the detectives, the detectives tell him about Sara, the woman who used to be an art student of Marissa. A short discussion about Zahn being a source of discomfort Sara ends up becoming true by him revealing that he has actually murder his own mother in the past.
My thoughts so far.
I really liked Zander Zahn up until this point. Book and film characters that are socially awkward usually tend to have likable characters. While strange, he makes the impression of a nice and benevolent person who is just a bit harder to deal with. His trait of loving his field of expertise is something that I truly admire.
With all that being said, I am not surprised about him actually being a murderer. There is probably a good chance that him killing his mother will have no noteworthy effect on the story. Feels like a red hearing in order to keep the detectives and us as readers guessing. The next chapter will obviously tell us more about thim and I am looking forward to learning more about him and his backstory.
Overall, I do not believe that he is actually directly involved in the murders aside from finding the corpses. He is probably just a red hearing the author made up in order to confuse us a bit more. A test of our skill, if you so want.
