Let's carry the Light of Jesus

In the New Testament, the word light is identified with goodness and holiness. Darkness, on the contrary, is frequently associated with injustice or evil.

The Lord Jesus described himself as the light of the world.

Meanwhile I am in the world, light I am of the world.

(Jn 9.5).

The apostle John called Jesus the true light that enlightens everyone.

That true light, which enlightens every man, came to this world

(Jn 1.9).

Our enemy Satan, who disguises himself as an angel of light, has blinded the eyes of many so that they do not recognize the truth of the gospel message. Therefore, they refuse to believe.

in which the god of this century blinded the understanding of unbelievers, so that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ does not shine, which is the image of God.

(2 Co 4.4).

The word light has meaning for believers, too. Being saved, we are transferred from the domain of darkness to the kingdom of light.

with joy thanking the Father who made us fit to participate in the inheritance of the saints in light; who has delivered us from the power of darkness, and transferred to the kingdom of his beloved Son,

(Col 1.12, 13).

By being freed from slavery to sin, we were adopted by our heavenly Father and received a future home in heaven, as well as a new family immediately — our brothers and sisters in Christ. We are no longer in darkness, but in the light of the Holy Spirit.

Now we are children of light.

For once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light

(Eph 5.8)

And our duty is to bring the truth of salvation and eternal life to an incredulous world. Christ has sent us to give the gospel message, and to experience it in our daily lives.

The apostle Paul understood what it meant to bring the light of the gospel to others. He dedicated himself to sharing the good news with unbelievers, and nurturing the faith of other Christians. Like Paul, we are called to be light bearers to those around us.

He invited people to put their trust in Him so that they could become children of light.

In the meantime you have the light, believe in the light, so that you may be children of light. Jesus spoke these things, and went away and hid from them.

(Jn 12.36).
