Manx TT
I used to play the video game in Luna Parcs when I was a kid. Little did I know that it was a real race that has an incredible mortality rate.
Since 1907, when the first TT was held (TT stands for Time Trial), 147 people lost their lives during the race. Mostly riders, but sometimes also spectators or marshalls. The race is held over a 60 kilometer long track to goes all over the island. Through very narrow villages and the at almost every corner there are stone walls that make a crash deadlier than anywhere else.
Still, the drivers know these risks and take them as a part of the sport. So did Daley Mathison during yesterdays race. In his third lap, the third kilometer was his last one...
An incredible loss for his family, wife and daughter... But he died doing what he loved most, says his wife on twitter. A very small consolation if you ask me.

Now, one could argue, as there is lots of criticism on this race, if this race has a right to be held. But if you ask the drivers, they all say yes. The joy of riding overweighs the risks of dying to them.

I am not to judge someone for his hobbies and passions, but it is still very sad that a 27 year old father died yesterday, a little girl and her mom have to go on without him, and that is damn hard.
Sincerely,
