Case of the Mondays

in life •  7 years ago

I used to HATE Mondays...

I really enjoy spending time with my family. Like, a lot a lot. I have a wife and two wonderful boys. The weekends are often filled with video games and kids movies. So of course, when Sunday evening rolls around, it's like someone sucked the life out of the party.

Monday morning can be a huge downer. I work in a corporate environment, so I have to put on some slacks, tuck my shirt in and get on down the road. I was one of these people who thought that Monday sucked.

I learned it's not as bad as it seems.

Learn to love Monday

Learn to love Monday by preparing on Sunday night. I usually carve some time out to get my game plan for the week. What are the most important things I have to do? What's crucial? I call those things game-changers. They are the things I absolutely must get done. Next are the would be nice items. Things that would be cool if you hit them after your main objectives. Finally, I outline my bonus items. These, of course, are if I have a rock-star week, things I'd like to get done.

Monday gives you the advantage

Since many people loathe Mondays, you can actually get a leg up in the workplace or professionally. When you come in to work or start your week with a game-plan, you are a step ahead of those whose sole mission is to just get coffee. Make sure you're armed with:

  • A clear mission of what needs to be done during the week.
  • Reasons why each of your to-do items are important.
  • A clearly marked calendar with mini-deadlines.
  • A journal so you can write notes and reminders along the way.

Remember, having a great Monday can set you on the path to having a great week. Speaking of which, I wish everyone a happy and productive day!
