No problem right? You just peel the backing and apply it to your desired surface, right? Well how about if that sticker is 114 inches in diameter? To make it worse, what if it's split right down the middle of a circle into two pieces and has to be stuck to a block wall?
This was our task Friday for @jpiper20 and myself! Normally when we apply a big decal, we hinge it at the top with masking tape and slowly reach under and roll off the backing as we squeegee it into place smoothly. On this occasion, our tape would not even stick to the wall! Not to mention the blocks were so uneven and coarse that you could only stick about 6 inches by 12 inches at a time!
Our blank "canvas"
Our tools to make it happen consisted of a scissor lift, squeegees and a heat gun.
We ended up having to peel an entire half and carefully hold it in place and slowly work our way down. The hardest part was lining up the two centers.
We prevailed and you could not even see a seam close up!
This gigantic decal was applied to the lunchroom wall at Savannah Christian Prep School here in our city, Savannah ,GA.
They were very pleased with our results!
Other smaller decals we also applied:
