LIFE BEGINS at the END of your COMFORT ZONE

in life •  7 years ago

I've learned in my life that it's important to be able to step outside your comfort zone and be challenged with something you're not familiar with. That challenge will allow you to see what you can do and this is the only way you can grow.

Skydiving is only one example. I went to Hawaii two years ago after I found out that my husband had an affair with one of his colleagues. I have just got married at that time, exactly two months before I found out that he cheated on my. So as soon as I found it out, I bought a flight ticket to Hawaii to enjoy my life instead of staying at home and crying in my room. I decided to do EVERYTHING in Hawaii that is out of my comfort zone. And I really did :)

Beyond skydiving, I jumped off cliffs, which I've always been afraid of, and they were quite high, as well (approx 8 meters). I was more afraid to do that than jumping out of the plane :D I was extremely proud of myself after I did it!

Right after I got back to Hungary from Hawaii, I decided to participate in the Spartan Race, which is one of the toughest obstacle race in the world. I ran 21 k in the mountains in crazy muddy circumstances and did 25 obstacles during the race. It was crazy, I really pushed myself beyond my limits, but I loved it!

I would be a totally different person without these experiences.

Thanks a lot for sharing. I have a question for you. Are you from Hungary? I am Hungarian (from Slovakia, living in Scotland), so wondered. :) Ha igen akkor szia :)
It is great that you went to Hawaii and you did all the things you wanted to and all the things outside of your comfort-zone. Sometimes, however, the hardest thing to do is to stay put and be with the pain/hurt/anger. That is also very important in order to grow from experiences (rather than suppressing them or running away). My boyfriend and I are doing the Wim Hof method 10 week online course. Having read this post I think this might be super interesting for you. Wim Hof is called the Ice-Man and he has defied science by being submerged in ice for more than 1hr without his body temperature changing. His training involves a lot of cold-immersion and definitely pushing past the comfort zone - where he says true inner peace lies. :)

Szia Roberta!! Igen, én is magyar vagyok :) De szuper magyarokkal találkozni itt Steemiten :D Nagyon örülök neked!!! Utána fogok nézni Wim Hofnak, felkeltette az érdeklődésemet! Szuper lehet az az online kurzus.

Not sure if you heard of the book called 'The Tools' but if you haven't you should check it out, it basically teaches you awesome ways to overcome fears you didn't even know you had, it goes really deep and it's my fav non-fiction book :)
