Perhaps physical pain is just a reprieve,
from the emotional pain without relief.
Perhaps it's all part of the life travail,
a strange opportunity to just breath.
Physical pain is no stranger to any of us,
and we never know when it will thrust.
Slows us down sometimes to make us think,
and even more determined to jump the brink.
We forget that stallions will fight to the death
to keep their mares, we forget the DNA we share.
The wounded stallion will wander off from the herd
and either heal, or die, or find a new hearth.
Life is pretty simple actually.
