Human Evolution - What would human beings look like if climate change persisted over the long term?

Human beings could develop strange, or at least unusual, physical characteristics depending on their future habitat. Here is the physical appearance that we could have if we want to adapt to our future environment.

Life Underwater

Global warming is causing ice to melt, resulting in an increase in water levels. Could the man of the future live under water? For this, we must first know how to breathe underwater. I guess humans could develop gills in order to capture the oxygen present in the water and pass it directly into the bloodstream.

We will also have to learn to move in our underwater environment, with feet and hands that will lengthen and palm. The hairs could also disappear, to allow a better penetration in the water, and our lungs could shrink.

Our eyes could get closer to those of cats, to have better vision in dark underwater areas, as well as translucent eyelids to protect the eyes.

The return of the ice age

If a meteorite strikes the Earth, the climate of the ice age would reappear. We could adapt by having very pale skin, so that the body produces more vitamin D from less exposure to sunlight.

We must also be stronger and much more muscular. Indeed, the lack of resources and technologies will push us to increase our physical activity. The hair, contrary to the previous theory, would be more numerous, in both men and women. The nose would be larger, as well as the face, in order to warm up more quickly and more easily the inspired cold air.

Life in Space

What if we had to live on another planet? To do this, the human body should undergo many changes, especially to face a low gravity.

The arms and legs would grow and be of the same length, like orangutans. To this would be added great toes opposable, since our feet would be used to seize things in a low gravity. At the level of the face, complete loss of teeth would be possible, as well as a reduction of the jaw, giving a smaller face, mouths only able to swallow LOL. That would be ugly !

Our body size would also decrease, given the lack of natural predators. This is called "island dwarfism", which some mammals with few resources and few predators already have!

I would like to live underwater! That woulb be cool! But we never know, it can all change really fast. Maybe one day we will be living in one of these environment !
