Early last year, I stumble upon a game that would change my life forever. Really, this is not an exaggeration, it is simply a fact. To make it clear, I am someone who is easily bored with mobile games. Heck, I could even get bored while playing games with engaging story lines! My friends are rarely surprised when I quit playing a game halfway through. They know how easily bored I could get with the repetitive pattern over and over again. I just can't make myself play anything for a long period of time without being put off.
Hence, why I never really see the appeal of being obsessed over a stupid game.
I live a very healthy simple life until... I installed this app into my phone.
360 Mobi: Miracle Nikki.
Dear lord, what have this game done to my soul? It has been consuming my life for an ENTIRE YEAR and I play it EVERYDAY. Like an addict, I would go into withdrawal if I don't open it once a day (and I login several times a day now!). I couldn't believe how this game is part of my everyday routine now.
The first thing I did in the morning? Open Nikki. While I'm on my way to work? Open Nikki. During lunch break? Open Nikki. I even check the game while I'm watching movies now!
"You got it bad, girl!"
What is this sorcery you ask? Well... let me enlighten you.
Not a simple Dress Up Game. It's everything you need.
You have to understand this, when I first started playing Miracle Nikki, I go into it with a mindset of expecting to play a boring dress up games for kiddies. The only reason I checked it out was to make fun of it once I'm done. Yes, I'm that type of person who tried something so that I could go around saying how boring it really was just for the heck of it. So there I was, scrolling through Facebook when I saw the ads for Miracle Nikki. I snorted at how cheesy everything was and going "There's no way the dresses would look like that in the game". Believe me, I had a share of hilarious experience playing sub-par dress up games. It wasn't worth anybody's time.
But the curious side of me was interested to check out how bad this game really is. So I ended up installing the game into my phone just to check out the dresses, to prove how overly exaggerated the trailer I saw had been. Boy oh boy, I fall down the rabbit hole so fast and a year later, I'm still wondering how in the world did I get here?
Nothing had prepared me for the variety of clothes they had in stored (currently 4k items in the wardrobe and counting!) for players to craft and collect. Holy smokes! This is simply unbelievable!
And you haven't seen anything yet!
The Game That Keeps On Giving
One of the reason why I'm always quitting on games is because: 1) It's hard to pass stages if I'm playing using the basic account (free of charge) 2) Rarely exciting updates to keep me going 3) Once I reach certain stage, things just gets mundane and repetitive.
But not Miracle Nikki. Oh bless the lord, never Nikki.
You can play this game for free everyday and they even gave diamonds and gold for free if you completed the daily quests. Bear in mind you need to have a bit of patience to play this for free but it is doable! Players are even given free daily attempts to try their luck in the "Mystery House" where they implemented a type of "Gacha" machine for you to win free rare items!
To keep the ball rolling, there's always events that keeps you excited! And when I say always, I meant always.
You can never stop playing if you're a hardcore collector like me. These types of events are usually open only for one week where the main goal is to collect and complete the rare and gorgeous set the developer provides. There are stages to complete and it's not always the same which can make you frustrated to no end, but hey, that what's makes this so satisfying once you reach the goal!
Evolve-able Items like Pokemon!
Yes, you read that right. You can evolve your clothes!
"Nah, it's not that impressive if I can't change the colours"
Oh really? Well, what can you say about this?
If you're easily bored like me, there is always the option to craft rare items by collecting materials while doing the main quests (which is a styling contest with an actual storyline against an NPC). If you're a social butterfly and you couldn't stand playing this alone, fear not! You can sign up to join one of the "Stylist Association" guild and be friends with other players while completing certain side quests together.
And like any other dress up games, you can also flaunt your fashion sense by joining the "Competition" or beating other players with your style at the "Stylist Arena" every week. The winner gets amazing prize by the end of the week!
But, isn't this still JUST a Dress Up Game?
Well I would reluctantly agree if you said this to me like a week ago. However, this is now way more than a dress up game as they had implemented a new update where you can now have a cute movable avatar and build the house of your dream. If you think this sounds familiar like the SIMS, because generally it's the simplified version of the SIMS!
In conclusion, I can keep on blabbing how amazing this game really is, but playing is believing! If the dresses couldn't convince you enough, maybe the beautiful background could do it justice! So I'm ending my entry with it :)
