This is one of the most popular quotes. I think this quote is partially true. Because when you feel pain, you obviously suffer also, whether for short-term or long-term.
I think what the author wants to say is that we can minimize the suffering associated with the pain. Sometimes we unnecessarily overthink about some problems in our life. If we let them go, we would suffer less.
