Through the hands of Robert de Brie, this Damask type rose from Persia to the European side in 1254 and 1276. Damask is a hybrid rose.
Famous for the smell of fragrant and often used as perfume.
The petals are edible, used as decoration, as herbal tea, and can also be made a kind of sweets called Gulkand (originally from India).
Damask (Summer Damasks) is the result of the cross of Rosa phoenicea and Rose Gallica.
Summer Damask only blooms once in the summer.
