Ordinary is the only way to describe how the day that altered my existence began. I got out of bed, and with grogginess, I turned on my alarm to get ready for work. Being a creative writer, I mostly worked from home and, thus, was generally alone since I devoted my time to penning down characters and plots. But on this single day, there seemed to be something that changed.
I could not quite describe what it consisted of; however, something was not quite right on the periphery of my consciousness. I dismissed the thought and continued with my day at work. I knew I should not dwell too much on needless things. Once the day rolled out, I started experiencing discomfort in the chest region. It was like wrestling with invisible chains, making breathing a struggle.
I tried to ‘unfocus’ on it, but the feeling only intensified. When I had completed a day’s work, I was on the edge of a panic attack. This switch led me to walk around to earn some clarity. Each time I walked around the park, I felt that, eventually, there would be a change.
Suddenly, there was a loud sound, and everyone was running at me, screaming and shouting. In what could have been a few moments, a man stepped forward and dragged me into a nearby building. He said that there was a bomb blast had taken place in the park, and everyone was requested to vacate the area.
I sometimes had my heart racing in a manner that let me know that I was lucky not to have been swept by that violence while taking a walk. At that moment, my perception shifted. This made me realize how unpredictable and so unpredictable life is.
I also understood that I was required to be mentally and physically fit. I would not have the power to rely on others. I needed the power to save myself in the process. The next day, I decided to make a change, so I tried to become stronger. I decided to go to the gym, learn kickboxing and face my fears. I had no fun, but I realized that it was something that I had to do. So, the day that changed me forever may have been a nightmare, but it bestowed me with the strength and determination to meet many terrible fates in my life.
