Where we purchased our date trees. The magical valley in California!

Hello fellow steemians! This is a magical valley of dates.....growing...not too far from Las Vegas, Nevada. We LOVE dates...and have always wanted to grow them. When we learned about this farm, called....the China Ranch Date Farm...we had to go check it out! We couldn't believe this was growing in the middle of the desert near DEATH VALLEY!!!!

As you drive down into this ancient valley...you wind through canyons...and then pop out into fields of towering date trees!

We were awe struck....by their beauty! As we wandered around, we bumped into Brian, the owner of this property. He has been care taking this farm...for a few decades now..and you can tell...it's the love of his life! I'll post a short video below...of Brian giving a tour. He is SO PASSIONATE about dates!!!!!!! Brian showed us the creek....that runs though the middle of the farm. The date trees grow right into the water! The water was so clean and clear. Nearby springs....feed this creek.

Brian ended up hand picking us some cultivars we could grow at home. He highly recommended their own cultivar...the china ranch date. We also scooped a medjool date.

When we got home...we transplanted the dates into large brute trash cans on coasters....with holes drilled in the bottom. Gave them a fast draining soil...and watered in!

The dates lived a year in the brute trash cans...and are now planted in our food forest into the earth. WE LOVE DATES so much that we constantly sprout them too. Below you can see the beginnings of a new date tree!
