SENSATIONALISM AT IT'S WORST!!!steemCreated with Sketch.

Have you ever seen something that just stops you in your tracks. I can remember these as a child, many, many years ago. I havent seen them in years, thinking that it was acceptable 30 years ago and now it would not be. Sorry I was wrong, I was out shopping today and stumbled across this, now before I show a picture of it, you need to understand that these where right at the register, prime spot, highly visible area, you couldnt miss them.

Candy cigarettes??????

Now before I get into a rant about this, yes I am a smoker. However I do not smoke in my house, my cars, or around my kids.

What the hell are we thinking, this is just bad, nothing good can come from this. I have smoked for 20 years and at this point in my life I wish I had never started. But our children today are very influenced by things they see. There should be no place in any retail compnay to promote this type of candy, or hidden message.

How much money are the big tobacco company paying these candy makers, cause you know they are. This is basically a recruitment into something that will kill you, now I understand its just candy but it is sensationalism that is also promoting cigarettes, making children think its ok.

As you can see the actual candy cigarette is very close in appearance and size to the real thing.

Come on people lets have a little more since then this. These are our children you are promoting this to.

Please let me know how you feel about this, cause I cant be the only one, who feels this way.

Thanks for hearing my rant.

Great post brothern

Thanks @sidewayzs13

I had candy cigarettes as a child. They were fun to play with.
I'm not a smoker.

Same thing with toy guns.
I've never shot an Indian as an adult.

I understand that, but if one child decides to smoke because of this, then it wasnt worth it. Toy guns can be a tool to teach, absolutely nothing good about candy cigarette. Never mind the fact that the taste is terrible.

I recall the ones back in the 70s, that had enough sugar to make you look like you were blowing smoke, weren't that bad tasting. ;)

Yep, those are the ones that i remember also, the ones today are nothing like the ones from 20 years ago.

Surprised they are not illegal. BTW - smoked for over 20 years (started when i was 16) - tried giving up so many times. Eventually succeeded with Champix. Pretty strong stuff - but have not had a smoke in 4 years. If you really want to give up, suggest chatting to your doctor about it. You'll get some pretty wacked out dreams as a bonus, :)

I totally agree with this! 30 years ago you would find it funny or cute and we were all wrong about that!

Agree, kids are way to influence today to beable to have something like this forsale.

I am sure I have seen them here in South Africa not so long ago. Thank you for the post @raybrockman.

Here.

It's kinda weird how stuff we had/did in our childhoods 30+years ago, in which society nowadays shuns. But I suppose you live and you learn. Great post!

Wow, I thought these got banned years ago, I remember these as kids, and yes I smoked my first cigarette at 11 and was a smoker by 13. I can't believe they are still in the shops. Shocking!!!
On a happy note, I have finally quit smoking after 23years
Thanks for sharing

CONGRATULATIONS on Quiting my friend. Yeah I was shocked to see them as well. Thanks for the visit and comment.
