Wing Chun

It's possible for you to learn all of the basics, forms, stances, etc., on your own but the core of wing chun is chi sao. For that you'd need a partner. There are quite a few schools in the world now a days. You just need to make sure you're going to someone who isn't making things up. A large percentage of the schools around suck, seriously!

I have noticed that the school in my area seems to be rather fake (in my opinion anyway) i was worried about the practicality of learning the forms by myself as opposed to having a teacher to correct my mistakes. I still work on it pretty much every day but I am definitely looking for a good school.

Hi Sebastian,
I understand where you are coming from. I first got interested in wing chun from reading a William Cheung book (Bil Jee). Later I found a school close to me that taught his lineage. Everyone in the school thought wing chun was some sort of secret technology and could beat everybody else, well you know how they are. Truth is they sucked. Quite frankly the majority of wing chun out there is ridiculous. To get an idea of good wing chun (in my opinion) check out Sifu Sergio, anyone under the wong shun leung lineage (gary lam, philip bayer, wan kam leung), chu shun tin. I can go on but check them out and let me know what you think.
