Do you have a special passion? I love the mountains. đ Have a look on my reasons why! I hope to inspire you!
Alpilles Natural Regional Park
The idea to this post
Today I was hiking in the Alpilles in South-France. It was just an easy hike fo me. đ Iâm used to do much more high meters and kilometers. But it wasnât less worth because I got this great idea:
One of my goals in life is to inspire people around me to enjoy the nature.
I asked myself: What is the best way to do this?
The answer: Talk about what you love and show your best views to the world! âïž
OK. Here we go!
1: nice people as far as the eye can see
I never ever met unfriendly people in the mountains.
It doesnât matter if you are hiking, climbing, mountain-biking or just pick-nicking. Everybody is friendly. Sometimes I have the thoughts, that people are generally friendlier in nature than in town.
Maybe itâs in fact of less stress? Or better air-quality? Or a reason of the thinner air?
Or movement? In the end I cannot tell you why. But I feel that it is a fact.
A few examples about this kindness in the mountains:
- Everybody greets each other along the way. In towns it isnât usual to greet each other (except in very small towns).
- Everybody is informell but still polite, because it doesnât matter if you are a manager or a waitress in real life. In the mountains you are a nature-friend.
Everybody helps each other. You have lost your key? Iâll have a look along the way. There is a lost dog? I will bring it to the next refuge. There is an upcoming thunderstorm? Iâll inform all people Iâll see. There is a unstable stair? I will tell you.
People are really interested in how you are not what you do. You do not talk about crypto or politics. You talk about your kids or hobbys.
Stay tuned for the other 7 reasons!đđ Maybe one of it is exactly the right to inspire YOU

This makes perfect sense: you are not going to climb a mountain and bitch to a fellow climber or bump against them! Haha! Curious to find out about the other reasons ;-)

I need reasons NOT to be in the mountains. I was born and raised in the Sierra Nevadas by Yosemite and going to the central valley was horrible. Flat and level ground seemed to create the opposite mentality that the mountains did. The mountains was care free people, the flats were a bunch of pissed off and unhappy people. Altitude helps the soul. Maybe it is the over abundance of air at lower levels that makes people so awful, but the thin air bypasses the yuck.

I don't understand you maybe. But it seems to b e you are mountain-addicted, too.. So why would you need the reasons NOT to be in the mountains?

Cool post, I think everyone who goes into the mountains is excited to be there and it shows.
Its like when you go travelling around the world and meet someone from your own country, you have something in common and have an instant connection and get on well. People in the mountains are like those people you meet from your own country :-)

I sure am, I feel like I live in the mountains sometimes :-) . I'm out a few times a week. When I'm not climbing for myself I am out with the mountain rescue team. We usually get about 2 call outs every weekend and these can usually last for 5 hours plus, usually carrying someone down in a stretcher in torrential rain hahaha.
I also climb all around the world, I have half of the seven summits done with the rest planned.

Via ferratas wow, I really want to go there and do some solo climbing :-) Its on my list!
I joined mountain rescue in 2011, it was the best thing I ever did, apart from helping people the training I get is amazing and the people are great.
Yea, hopefully you will never need us :-)

There are some very easy Via ferratas to use by nearly everyone.. the biggest difficult is there in my opinion tu strictly use the climbing harness...

I love the idea of going solo and having a nice wire bolted into the side of the mountain, all I would need is a helmet and harness :-)
