Multitasking is bad? Okay, I do multi-task all day long!

Hello Beautiful People!

I was reading an article on improving our productivity and found that they are saying to stop multitasking. I mean seriously, how can I stop multitasking?

I am a MOM and there is no way to do my job or everything if I don't multi-task. But yeah, after reading the article I really feel that I should take another look on my life, maybe I need a change on how I do everything.

Like, I can't even remember when the last time I enjoyed my drink without my mobile phone on my hand! Maybe I forget to enjoy the moments. I am like drowning myself in all those notifications. I'm really feeling a dilemma, what should I do. It needs a lot more work to stop the multi-task. Coz I'm already very much adaptive with it. Maybe we all have some similar stories. I'm not sure. Or this is only me making my life more complicated!

Multitasking can reduce the efficiency of our work as we can give our 100% focus solely on something, not many other things. But these days, I hardly see people are not doing multi-task. But, I agree with that, if we stop multitasking we can enjoy our moments, can do things properly and feel our life. We are making our brain busy by doing this and can't get enough space to think about something productive or we are killing our imaginary brain. I can feel this.

On the other hand, I read that 'what requires thinking, we should not multi-task that'. Like writing or anything similar. So that's a relief coz I never do that. I can't do that actually. It feels very irritating and disturbing to me to listen to music and write/read at the same time. So, should I consider myself on the safe side, on the right side? Coz I do multi-task only on my daily life activities.

There are a lot more things to think about this. If you also have such a habit, you can also think about it, how you can re-schedule your work and how you can be more efficient.

THANKS FOR READING

Much Love

I use to have music playing or other background sound when I would write. I discover later on I do much better without it.

I’m doing at least 5 things right now. Using down time from one action to do another so there no down time. Yay for multitasking. Some tasks seem great for it while others I would agree are best to do one at a time.

Yeah, I guess we all have something similar story. But maybe have to notice is this actually helping us or not.

Not many people can handle multiple tasks concurrently and in order to hone/perfect this skill, training and consistent practice must be performed.

Yeah, totally agree. Thanks 😊

Multitasking...

image.png

(Live example though)

But yeah, I think everyone multitasks now, because it feels a little bit weird to focus on your coffee's taste while you have a lot of to do on the phone and you only have 24 hours a day. But I can whole heartedly agree that multitasking when doing thinking-intensive jobs is dangerous - you can always end up somewhere you don't know!

Personally I don't count background music and other passive things as part of the multitasking life, since you don't interact with them and sometimes they are there to help you to get into the mood, but it's also pretty easy to sway around if you're not focusing enough...life's hard...

I don't know why music works like a destruction during my works. We all have different tastes!

I try to make specific early morning times to do key tasks that require strong focus, and that helps a lot. :) -

Great. Thanks for sharing.

Certain tasks, I set myself up in a way where I am not distracted, social moments and family moments I put away distractions because I want to soak that time up and be in the moment, However, when it comes to productivity, I am skilled at multitasking and would get very little done it a day if I prioritized only one thing at a time.

I totally understand. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Wow! So I am not crazy after all Lol
I only do one thing at a time and when I say this, I mean it. I will stick with that one thing until it is done, no matter how long it takes.
Marian (my wife) can do a hundred things at once so it seems, but you women are magicians hahaha.
Blessings!

Yeah, it's a mom thing specially. I also think so.

Women apparently are better multitaskers than men. And some people are generally better at it than others, so it can vary. However, some time every day should be set aside for single-pointed focus, during meditation for example, or exercise. Although even during exercise one can listen to something.

As my job nature is to do the multitasking way but, I prefer to do one at a time outside of my job! Social media, Cellphon is killing our personal/social life I can say!
