Please Thank the People Who Serve

When I say "serve," I bet the people who come to mind are first responders (EMT, police, fire), and doctors and nurses.



Perhaps you also think of people like me (mail carriers). I hear "Thank you for your service" every day.

Depending on where you live, you may want to thank the National Guard members or soldiers who are helping.

But what about the garbage collectors? Today, I thanked some, including a woman who's also a nurse! Wow! Can you imagine that?

What about the people forced by their profession to be right there with you, like the people running the cash registers at "essential" businesses? What about the people in the aisles answering your questions and helping you find what you need? What about street cleaners? Recyclers?



Are you thanking them? If not, please start. Some of them are probably quite uncomfortable with having to be in close proximity to potential SARS-CoV-2 carriers, so keep your distance but loudly say "Thank you for what you do!" Okay?
