Many of us wonder how do you meditate? We have all heard of the famous meditation masters, but do we really know how they do it? Many people are interested in learning to meditate and are searching the Internet for information. If you are new to meditating there are many different ways that it can be done. Most of us can get started by sitting comfortably in a chair with our feet on the floor.


To begin the process of meditating we need to establish a quiet place. It is best to meditate when the weather is not so hot or cold. Also, noisiness in the home can hinder a peaceful atmosphere. One method of calming a noisy family is by placing a bowl of water over the heads while speaking a quiet verse.

It is best to repeat the same verse in your mind a few times until it calms you down. In my opinion the best way to start is to read the entire passage that you are about to read in the English version. Reading the passage in the original language helps us to get into the mode of thinking clearly. This helps us to overcome the hurdles that we face when we attempt to go back to our original state of mind.

To help you get started with this kind of meditation technique, try this first thing to do. Close your eyes and begin to count from one to twenty. As you reach each number open your eyes. This mindfulness technique will assist you to achieve deep focus. As you come closer to achieving mindfulness you can move to deeper levels of concentration.

Another helpful way to start off your meditation is to think about the words you are using when you speak, as well as those that you are reading. Paying attention to the way the words sound as you utter them will assist you in becoming more aware of your body as you sit there and meditate. It can be a good idea to ask an expert or someone that you know to watch over you while you sit and meditate.

One more helpful way to begin your meditation technique is to picture the image of the verse you want to meditate upon. This can help you to relax your body as you stare into the verse. Once you have reached this stage, you can begin to visualize your inner self as existing within that verse. When you have finished visualizing the inner you then close your eyes and place all your focus on this inner you. You should feel your whole body becoming still and I assure you that you will experience this state of bliss. As you continue to visualize your inner self you will soon reach the peak of the trance.

To summarize, a good way to get into the proper state of mind for meditating is to imagine yourself sitting in the spot where you are about to enter a meditative state, close your eyes and start to count from one to twenty while you are sitting there. Once you reach the count of twenty, you can now close your eyes and start your meditation. Try not to think about anything and simply concentrate on your inner self as it guides you through your meditation process. How do you know if you have reached this final stage? If you feel yourself losing control you may have either stopped or lost track of time and you will need to re-start your meditation.


These simple steps will assist you in learning how to meditate on a daily basis. As you progress in your practice, you will find that your concentration improves and you are able to stay focused on the task at hand. This is why so many people struggle with reaching the meditative state, because they have a hard time staying focused.
