Caffeine is not addictive.

    Most people think that caffeine is addictive but the fact is that it is not. It only acts as a stimulant that excites the Nerve cells of our brain. On the other hand nicotine ,which is majorly found in tobacco is considered to be addictive. If you are consuming caffeine in moderate amount you will not become addicted to it but if you consume it regularly then your dependency on it might get you a headache or feeling of fatigue, nausea or even muscle pains. Even it may be harder for you to concentrate on the things properly. So always be on a safer side and take it in moderation. Now the question arises how much amount is the moderate amount and answer is that between 200 and 300 milligrams of caffeine that is equivalent to 2 to 3 cups of coffee are considered to be moderate and safe. Moderate consumption of caffeine even may reduce the risk of some diseases like diabetes,gallstones,Parkinson's disease and liver diseases also.

Avoid caffeine during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

    Women should be more cautious while their pregnancy and widely moderate their caffeine intake. Studies have shown that high intake of caffeine may lead to miscarriages and decrease fetal growth but this has not been proved medically. Getting less than 300 grams per day that is equivalent of up to 3 cups of coffee, will be fine. Babies can get a dose of caffeine from breastfeeding so please avoid while you are having babies and breast feeding them.

    Caffeine effects last longer than you might think. While you are having it in the morning it can take more than 6 hours to eliminate just half of the caffeine from your body. A cup of coffee taken in the afternoon might hamper your sleep at night and you may not be aware of it,you might be blaming some other things for your sleep. People who are sensitive to caffeine it may be even longer than this.

    The FDA limits the caffeine content in soft drinks to 71 milligrams per 12 oz serving but energy drinks can have any amount of it even several energy drinks have more than 100 milligrams of caffeine per serving to 200 mg.

I personally never drink coffee when I'm really tired. because it just makes me jittery.
I like to wake myself up a bit first with a bit of movement and stretching, that it puts me in a better mood and helps with energy.

As a rule, when you are tired your body is telling you to sleep so don't take stimulants.

I love my morning coffee when I start out in the studio. But sometimes I'll skip it for a day or so when I feel the need. I guess I fall into the category of being sensitive to caffeine.
