In a new altruistic initiative, Bitso, one of the main exchange houses in Mexico, has enabled a channel of donations for the victims of the earthquake that occurred yesterday.

The earthquake measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale has left a 200-person death toll, with about 50 collapsed buildings in the country's capital, a tragedy that has shocked the world and topped news headlines.

Donations can be made to Ripple's bitcoins, ethers and XRPs, sending half of those donations to the Mexican Red Cross and half to the different rescue brigades. To boost the campaign of aid by means of criptomonedas has been launched the label #BitcoinAidMexico and have published the blockchain addresses in a post in his blog.

"The properties of this technology, such as transparency, traceability and real-time visualization allow public auditing of all the funds collected by users at any time," reads the commendation of the blockchain of each of these cryptones .

José Rodríguez, Bitso's Vice President for payments, survived the earthquake in Mexico City and uploaded a video describing his experience:

"Everything moved around, even long after the tremor had passed. There were broken glass, trees ... everyone started to evacuate. It was very crazy. Many glasses falling, people screaming. Less than a block from me a building collapsed. Other buildings also collapsed, "he said.

Every Friday night and during the next four weeks, the funds collected will be settled by changing them to Mexican pesos and will be certifying the contributions with vouchers issued by the Central Bank of Mexico. The amount of pesos that are collected will be deposited in the bank account of the Red Cross of Mexico (CLABE 012180004040404062), number that can be validated in the following address. To start the campaign, Bitso will donate 50,000 Mexican pesos that will be added to the account at the end of the week.

It should be noted that Bitso was already carrying out a fund-raising campaign in Cryptomonedas to help victims of the earthquake that affected Chiapas and Oaxaca on September 7, in which 90 people died; in addition, in this campaign also use the previous addresses stipulated for that moment.

Although in CryptoNoticias we reproduce the blockchain addresses to make the donations, it is important that they are verified in the official site of Bitso, in order to prevent errors or that attackers pass themselves off as affiliates to Bitso in social networks.
