Goal focusing is probably one of the most time-consuming but often underappreciated aspects of life. Everyone understands the importance of setting goals, but in daily life, goals can quickly become abstract terms that don't mean anything to us (and, in the worst-case scenario, are forgotten).
Regardless of the subject, the target is always in mind when I work with clients in coaching or supervision, or when I hold workshops with groups. We have no idea whether or when we can succeed if we don't know what we want to do in the next two hours, two weeks, or two months. Even if we have a strong desire, we will be like fireflies running around in the dark without a specific goal; it might look good, but we are not going forward...
Focusing on your goals does not have to be tedious or time-consuming; on the contrary, it can be a powerful way to channel your energy and excitement into concretely getting where you want to go. I'll share my top 12 tips for working with targets in this article.
The key concern could be how to transform "target setting" into "goal attainment." To put a thought into motion - not because someone tells us to, but because it gets us closer to our goals. It can sound like a cliché when words like "you can get where you want" are used, but it is valid in many cases if we use all of our strengths and follow a few basic measures.
Some ways to reach your goals
First and foremost, you must understand why you want to achieve your goal. The overall frame. What motivates you and what you want to accomplish. What motivates you to work hard to achieve your target, no matter what challenges you face along the way, and what benefits it provides you personally.
Your future should not be monotonous, stressful, or a shrug. You have a lot more potential than you thought! You can think as big as you like here, and you won't be constrained by what is and isn't possible.
Our life is in constant flux. Three months is about the maximum amount of time we can realistically keep track of and power over. The farther away the target, the more likely circumstances will have changed to the point that your plans will no longer apply or function. Select a few of the most passionate proposals for three-month objectives (the big plans we have anyway, and can come back to you at regular intervals). Choose a target that will help you get closer to your dream by having the most positive impact.
The aim of the SMART goals approach is to set goals that you believe you can accomplish ahead of time. It provides even more favorable conditions for you to succeed. You will learn how to set SMART goals that are beyond your reach by reading this article.
Start by writing down what you need to do to achieve your three-month plan / SMART goal. A type of action plan that can be broken down into weeks and days if necessary.
What is the worst-case scenario for your plans? Play with the idea of "How do I behave in such a way that this would be as ineffective as possible?" If you reverse those sentences, you'll have a perfect list of things to do in order to succeed.
You're at your best when you're being yourself. Do not equate yourself to others; instead, develop strategies based on your own strengths, advantages, and what you consider to be enjoyable. Your emotions play an important role here as well; if you believe you will succeed, your chances are far higher than if you believe you will fail. Your emotions play an important role here as well; if you believe you can succeed, the odds are that you will in practice.
