We, the humans are complex beings. We tend to make mistakes every now and then. The pursuit of perfection however, never stops. Although perfection itself is ‘too perfect’ a term to define humans, the journey of self-development and personal growth is a continuous process. Looking back at past years, the present self feels the best version of self. But comparing ourselves with ‘ideal’ form of our self, the need to improve and grow never ends in all aspects; social, psychological, spiritual, physical, financial, and personal. The road to self-development is an integration of three dimensions;
- Physical Aspect
- Spiritual Aspect
- Social Aspect
Here’s how to work in these areas simultaneously for a holistic self-development;
1. Physical Aspect
‘Body is soul’s Temple.’ There is no denying in this saying. To protect your soul and to let it grow, you must provide a healthy home (that is your body) to it. Healthy body will provide healthy thoughts to your brain. For a healthy body, you need;
A balanced Diet
Balanced diet means eating food that is full of healthy nutrients. It caters all the food groups in recommended amount including fats, proteins, carbs, vitamins, and minerals. To lose excess weight and stay healthy, one must eat from each food group but within the restricted calorie limit. Processed and fast food is best when eaten occasionally. Include more green vegetables and fruits in your diet to stay healthy. Increased water intake is crucial to a well-hydrated body. Without enough water, our bodies deny functioning properly. Make sure to drink at least 1.8 liters of water each day.
Physical Exercise
Exercising is mandatory to a healthy body in today’s increasingly automated world. Move yourself in whatever way you can (be it walking to a nearby market or taking stairs to your apartment). Didge procrastination in any way you can, while trying to do at least 30 minutes physical activity each day.
To improve your body image, it is also important to;
- Get regular medical checkups
- Choose organic and natural food options over processed and GMO based food
- Improve body's posture and outlook
2. Spiritual Aspect
Spiritual well-being aims at healing the broken soul or empowering a weakening soul. Use meditation, yoga mindfulness, and other healing therapies to recover from spiritual break down. Once your soul heals from the wounds of past, make meditation and yoga as part of your routine to stay sustain focus and energy.
3.Social Aspect
Probably the hardest one to work on, this aspect is quintessential in keeping our life in order. Man is a social animal and we cannot survive without interacting with each other. To make most of it, be sure to improve your communication skills and keep good friends. But situations are not always in our favor and to cope with that, train yourself to remain calm and respond in a rational way than choosing emotions and aggression as your weapon.
Working simultaneously in three dimensions is a sure-fire road to self-development. While working on self-development, be kind and forgiving to yourself and learn from your mistakes.

Thank you for posting this. There are great points here. Every bit of effort toward achieving balance is magnified when we are physically well. Our physical state is such an important starting point.
Spiritual health plays such a role in our lives. I think meditation and time in nature and reflection have been whittled away by current routines for many people. Getting back to those habits can have amazing impacts
