HOW DOES TRAVELLING AFFECT ONES PERSONALITY AND LIFE?

in life •  7 years ago

Travelling is said to be one of the best and most effective remedies in case someone is having a hard time or life is just not going their way. It is a great stress reliever and it refreshes or boosts ones metabolism. Everyone needs a change of pace, a different scenery sometimes in their life. Sometimes life does not work out the way one wants it to. And it is crucial for that person to take some time out and either travel to another place or just go out on a long drive.

“Travel makes one modest, you see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.”

Different Experiences:

Travelling can affect one’s life as it is when one travels to different places, and ends up meeting different people, and every single one of them owning a new personality, a separate identity and at times varying in cultural traditions. One can learn a lot from them. Listening to the view point of others is a good activity. It takes man out of his daily dilemma and gives him a breather. He ends up finding comfort in talking to strangers. The friendships made during this time turn into wonderful memories. They part before they could even figure out the others dark side.

Mark Manson said:

“Travel is a fantastic self-development tool, because it extricates you from the values of your culture and shows you that another society can live with entirely different values and still function and not hate themselves. This exposure to different cultural values and metrics then forces you to reexamine what seems obvious in your own life and to consider that perhaps it is not necessarily the best way to live.”

The world and Man:

Travelling helps one perceive the world in different ways. It gives him time and space and also releases him from the pressure of his work life. The scenery changing before his eyes makes him fall into deep thought. He starts to analyze his situation more critically. It makes him realize that there is much more to life then the troubles he had been tackling with all that time. Spending some peace and quiet time with nature by your side. The world becomes still. The cool breeze that blows past you seems to encourage the person to stand tall. The world in harmony. No more car horns. No more paper work. No more noises. Just relaxing and not thinking about tomorrows worries eases his mind. He becomes one with nature. Calm and composed.

As Jonah Lehret says:

“We travel because distance and difference are the secret tonic of creativity. When we get home, home is still the same. But something inside our minds has changed, and that changes everything”.

Travelling’s effect on Man:

It changes him. He becomes more aware and starts taking a more optimistic approach in life. When they come back people are amazed to see the changes in the traveler. His mindset and personality become clear and he becomes confident in his abilities and takes a responsible approach in life. He starts giving positive energy to his colleagues and the people around him.

According to Anthony Bourdain:

“Travel changes you. As you move through this life and this world you change things slightly, you leave marks behind, however small. And in return, life – and travel – leave marks on you. Most of the time, those marks – on your body or your heart are beautiful. Often, though, they hurt.”

Conclusion:

In the end one should always take some time out of his busy schedule and travel to different places. It has a positive effect on his ever so stressed out brain. It soothes his mind as well as his soul. His goals become clearer. He starts to accept things as they are and instead of complaining he starts to face his troubles head on. When he is relaxed the world becomes a peaceful place. The different people he meets on the way teach him a variety of things. He becomes wiser.

Azar Nafisi talks about the effect of travelling on a person as:

“You get a strange feeling when you are about to leave a place. Like you will not only miss the people you love but you will miss the person you are now at this time and this place, because you will never be this way ever again”.

Hi @sameer777. I just have to say I totally agree about how good it is to travel for one person.

To be me personal, I had a bad time at work lately, and I planned a small roadtrip soon to just relax and forget about all this bad stuff in my mind.
It will be just for one week, but even small travel can have great effects.

Cheers and have a nice day. ^^

Hi @sameer777 I am dreaming of the sun. They says travelling will eventually bring you home. It can be home to yourself. A journey can be an interior one. I have always loved travelling, and I agree it makes us humble and thankful. When we are not able to go far, find a forest. take off your shoes and and sit by a tree. Then breath :)

I so agree with your post. I've been traveling in Europe and I am now in the U.S., and it completely changed my perception of life and way of thinking. Just between Europe vs US I've seen so many differences, even if it doesn't look like that at first sight.
Traveling makes you realize all these silly things you are worried about everyday are nothing compared to other civilizations that live with nothing. And also that you don't take life for granted.
For me, I think travelling is better with other people, family, boy/girlfriend or friends, it's an experience you can share and remember all together.

Absolutely travelling is of much more significance. Not only travelling is for fun but also provide personal and health by refreshing and relaxing our mind.

That’s why I really love traveling!

Hello sameer777,
First of all I want to say great article! I would like to ask you for an advice. I am new on steemit and would like to know, how did you Italicized and Bolded the text in your article? How do you use a different font? If you could please take the time to explain it to me, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you in advance!

I love this post! This is exactly why we choose to make traveling our lifestyle and not to settle for an ordinary 9-5 life!

Excellent article @sameer777. I recently got back from my first experience in another country and culture. It definitely had me questioning society and culture in general. How I view the world and why I view it that way. The rawness of travel for sure has the tendency to give more opportunities for growth.

I don't think travel is for everyone, but I do think it is good for those who can do it, to try at least once.
