The MINORITY REPORT is Coming into REALITY

If you've seen the movie "Minority Report" starring Tom Cruise, then you know what I'm talking about. Whether we like it or not, the technology that allowed Tom Cruise to catch "criminals" before they actually commit the crime is here. Worst, it's past the development stage and is now being tested.

If you recall, the movie was set primarily in Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia in the year 2054, where PreCrime, a specialized police department, apprehends criminals based on foreknowledge provided by three psychics called "precogs". The film's central theme is the question of free will versus determinism. It examines whether free will can exist if the future is set and known in advance.

The creators of this technology came up with a new name probably to disassociated the technology from the fears and negative publicity that the movie had created. Its lame name is "Predictive Policing".

This is outright scary and disturbing. Firstly, technology is advancing so much faster than we anticipated. The movie was set in 2054 yet since 2017 (or earlier), they are already testing the technology in New Orleans! Why New Orleans? I have no idea. Perhaps there are too many politicians in Washington D.C. that could kill the project even before it starts. Or to distance the politicians supporting the project from the media and mob scrutiny.

Secondly, the fact that we are indeed creating our own future and the movies, sadly, have a very strong influence on our imaginations and proclivities. So what happens next? Predators and aliens hunting humans? Dinosaurs brought back from extinction? Godzilla terrorizing major cities? Or perhaps the Jedis policing and maintaining the balance in the known multiverse - not to forget the robots and the Death Star! Who knows, Darth Vader and Sith were already born at this time.

I don't know about you but I could live in the world of the Jedis and intergalactic travel but I'm not keen on the dinosaurs and aliens hunting and eating humans.

The future is very bleak but I'm very glad that we now have the blockchain technology which can prevent the alteration or manipulation of the minority report. In retrospect, I don't recall how Tom Cruise discovered the blackmail and conspiracy against him. Was it because of the blockchain technology?
