(maybe it's more accurate if someone photoshopped Merida onto Jasmine lmao)
I figured that not many people would know anyone personally who is in this situation, and I often feel like there's huge misconceptions about Saudis and Muslims, and so I am totally open to answering any questions anyone on here might have for me.
Peace xx

we've been married for a year. Marriage with someone from a different culture and race is a huge deal. It requires you to have a learning curve, to find ways to communicate--especially when language can be a barrier, we always have to take extra care to listen and to express more patience than "typical" couples do. But, because of this extra effort and extra work, we have learned to understand each other in deeper ways. We talked for about 2 weeks before we married. Dating before marriage is forbidden in Islam, so while we talked, we went into our courting with the prospect of marriage. We asked the important questions, discussed our values, that kind of stuff. :)

but, like, he's amazing. He treats me wonderfully, he's a "say it like it is" kind of guy, super sweet, he is the perfect compliment to my personality. We're completely different and that's why we get along so well. We compensate for each other's strengths and weaknesses. We live more of a traditional way, which is what's expected of his culture. But it doesn't bother me. I never feel disempowered, and I never feel "oppressed" which is what A LOT of people assume of me lollollol
