Game of Thrones is a popular fantasy drama series based on the books written by George R. R. Martin, that has millions of fans throughout the world. If you watch the show, you already know why it is so hugely popular and if you don’t, you should probably start right away!
After all, it is based on a world akin to the medieval times with awesome fight sequences and plot twists that make your jaw drop. Oh and it has dragons, magic, zombies, assassins and much more. It’s basically a cocktail of awesomeness!
There is only one problem with Game of Thrones as far as I see it and it’s that, there just aren’t enough episodes and there is a lot of wait until the next season. I think there is a life lesson somewhere in that too!
Well, there are so many valuable lessons one can learn from the show even though it belongs to the fantasy genre. George R. R. Martin has really done a phenomenal job at portraying the subtle lessons that one learns in life.
Be Cautious Who You Trust
If you’ve seen the show, you know that there is so much backstabbing that happens throughout the show that it makes you think loyalty is not a value that the people of Westeros have.
And yet, we see time and again, many characters trusting others blindly and it ultimately leads to their defeat or even death. How many times have we seen the same happen to us or someone we know in the real world?
Too many times, I am guessing. You should be really cautious about who you trust in life. It’s not that everyone is an evil backstabber but these days people are more likely to screw you over if it benefits them greatly. Also, you never know who is plotting a revenge on you for a grudge they hold against you.
Your Present Situation Doesn’t Define Your Future
Too many times, we just assume that the way things are going right now is the way things will always go. Be it a good present or a bad one. But for the purposes of this post, let’s focus on the positive one.
If you are going through troubled times and you are feeling weak or like a nobody, trust me, it won’t always be that way if you are willing to work hard. The show teaches you this through several characters, mainly Daenerys and Tyrion.
Daenerys was like a lamb when she was first introduced and look at her know. She is the queen of dragons! Tyrion started out as someone who lacked purpose and he is now such a wise man who is utlizing his potential as the right hand man of Daenerys.
Valar Morghulis
This has become a pretty popular phrase among the lovers of the show which means “All men must die”. Death is a very recurring theme on the show and kind of what makes it so interesting to watch.
From the very beginning of the show, it has been clear that no character is safe and they may die at anytime. That is literally how it happens in life too. You never know when you will go.
Therefore, we should all be aware of this inevitability and live life to its fullest. We should cherish each day and give our hundred percent at everything we do and yes, also, don’t take life too seriously. We ain’t getting out alive anyways!
Life Isn’t Perfect
Game of Thrones is very different from other shows in that, it doesn’t give you the happy ending after regular intervals that is often expected from fantasy tales. Instead, it gives you the opposite, by killing off your favorite characters.
If you watch the show expecting the good characters to win all the time, you will be disappointed. Doesn’t the same happen in life? Even if you are a good person, there is no guarantee that life will be perfect for you. Far from it.
The show, based on the writing of Martin, really portrays the various twists and turns of life and the insane amount of hardships at every corner that just keep springing up. It is amazing that a show that has so many supernatural elements can be this realistic about life.
Game of trones is great tv series, I wonder that they make maybe spin off or something like that.
I have never seen that quantity returns of action.
I didn't see much of surprising tv shows

I love them all especially the one about Valar Morghulis
There are so many lessons i learn from him from the series.
All men must die. Many of us view death as a distant stranger that we’ll likely never know.
Game of Thrones demonstrates that death comes for everyone, from noble lords to innocent children. Being an upstanding citizen doesn’t make you immune to speeding cars or diseases. Each one of us is as vulnerable to death as the next, and eventually, it will come for us all, whether as an accidental misstep on a roof or an overly aged body. It could be tomorrow, or it could be in ninety years, but all men must die, so while alive, make every moment count. Do what you love, spend time with loved ones and be grateful, because, as Martin relentlessly shows, any moment could be your last.

Four very apparent live lessons in the show and the book. Excellent analysis. I like the fact that it's not sugarcoated and very raw with a lot of taboo scenarios.

Well its all director's craft, otherwise Martin's books are not an easy read but the show managed to highlight every story without confusing the audience. Its direction and incredible actors are what makes it great. But i strongly believe we have an Indian parallel to this show is the grand epic Mahabharat, that has everything except good direction and heavy budget. If Bahubali experiment is done with mahabharat it would surpass game of throne.

Yes, the people behind the TV show have done an awesome job of giving life to Martin's books. And yes, the same could be done with Mahabharat if they had good enough budget.

Oh yes totally agree.
These points are so true and omnipresent.
I just love Game of thrones and I think there is much more we can learn from this series.
Often we have to read between the lines!
Thanks for the great contribution :)

alternatively, you could also glean from Daenerys and Tyrion's characters...
3)It's always good to have fire breathing dragons on your side. There is no downside.
