We humans, are social animals and therefore are connected to our fellow humans in more than one ways. That’s because we have different roles to play in life. We are children, parents, brothers or sisters, friends, employees, citizens of a country and also many other things.
Each one of us is connected to the other and at large, it forms a beautiful symphony of sorts where each of us are like musical instruments. That’s what being human is.
And since we are humans, one might think that understanding another fellow human would be an easy task. If only things were that simple. In reality, we are all very different to one another and sometimes, it might be very difficult to understand the eternal depths of one’s feelings and thoughts.
When that happens to me, what I try to do is, I start looking at things from the other person’s perspective, basically putting myself in their shoes. This brings a lot of clarity and helps in understanding them when words fail to deliver the message.
Widening Your Perspective
It is very important to try to understand the people in your lives. That is because there will always be differing thoughts and emotions and if we try to hold our own above everyone else’s, that will create a lot of friction.
Yes, you have to stick to your guns if you absolutely believe in what you’re saying but you also need to understand that there can be two sides to the same stories just like how a coin has two sides.
So, while your perspective might be valid, you also need to be mature enough to view someone else’s perspective with an open mind as that might be valid at the same time too.
It’s this widening of your perspective that makes you all inclusive and expands your thinking which makes for better relationships with the people around you and you would feel less burdened to always be or prove yourself right.
Stepping Into Someone’s Shoes
Once you are able to widen your perspective, you are able to put yourself in other people’s shoes and start looking at a situation at hand or life in general, from their point of view. Trust me, this is much easier said than done.
Often times we may judge people for their behaviour, lifestyle, personality, attitude, life decisions or a plethora of other small and large things. But what we seldom think about is the reason or story behind those things. We need to ask ourselves ‘why’ more often before we just lay some judgement on people.
Doing this will help us build a world where we are more empathetic towards one another, a world where we are able to help each other out, instead of just making useless judgement calls that do no good to anybody.
So, the next time you have questions or are unable to understand someone, it’s just better to ask them or put yourself in their place and think.
Spot on! The value of empathy is one which is quite underrated in our society. We don't try to see things from other people's perspectives but instead try to force our opinions on them.
But true understanding can only be achieved if you look from everyone's perspective and not let your personal judgement cloud your potential knowledge.

Things always become clearer when you change your view, and try to evaluate from the other people perspective.

Excellent content, happy to read you many people are always thinking in that way that is not the correct judge without knowing the reasons. We must speak for good and not destroy people for their opinions or actions.
