One of the rather important aspects of us humans I keep thinking about is our ideologies. Each person has a set of beliefs and ideas that largely dictate how they behave in general and go about with their lives.
And of course, as with everything else, each person's ideologies differ from the next and in a way that guarantees that we will always have enough ideas to propel the human race forward, as a variety of ideas enable debate, considerations and finally the selection of best ones that serve the purpose of the greater good.
The downside is that it can lead to conflict, especially on a personal and individual level and we can see that happening quite often. In areas of politics and religion, people can have such concrete ideologies that it can lead to some really nasty situations.
In other areas also, such differences can have an adverse impact on the relationship between any two people. What I have come to understand is that we should all learn to be a lot more flexible with our ideologies and try to examine the other sides before coming to any conclusions.
Be Flexible
Being flexible is not only healthy for the body but also for the mind. We are always learning, re-learning and unlearning stuff because that's the way life works. It teaches us lessons, gives us new experiences which shapes us to be better human beings.
So, I think we should always be willing and open to change the way we feel or think about something if the other person is able to throw some light on aspects and dimensions we simply hadn't thought before. The same thing can be looked at in different ways and sometimes we miss a really important side and come to all the wrong conclusions about something or someone.
Remaining flexible allows us to have a holistic approach to life where even though we have our own sets of ideas and beliefs, we understand fundamentally that there can be other better ones out there. This understanding is what matters and is required in any relationship.
But what we most often see is people trying to impose their ideologies onto one another and getting disappointed or furious when they don't succeed. Sometimes all it takes is to take a pause, let go of what you believe and just listen.

good post, … I often do the same, .. if I have conflicting views with someone, .. rather than impose or vice my opinion, .. I listen - understand the view of the situation from the other side, … we could all learn a lot from this kind of attitude especially in these troubled dangerous times.
