Food, Water, and Air

4673737_orig.jpg

food is necessary to live
try to share it if you have the will
if not, at least, do not waste any
that could have fed a hungry stomach

water is precious
the drink of life
collect it during rain
and plants trees that can help revive the planet again

the air that is pure
polluted again and again
the air sustains and helps lives
alas! to whom are we to complain?

food, water, and air ensure life on the planet
a tiny imbalance and all is lost

entry for Announcing the Steemit School Poetry 100 Day Challenge! (Total Prize Fund 2000 SBD)

I write poems to express myself. I started writing at the age of twelve or so and some of my poems were published in magazines for children, a time when print still ruled the world. The internet and the blogging world has helped me write poems. Most of it was as I wrote earlier, to express myself and my thoughts. I have also been a ghostwriter.
Steemit has helped me write with freedom and also earned me very good friends who encourage me to write. I hope my readers will support me and also join in this contest. I am not a student of literature and so I do not consider myself an expert in poetry. It is the judge who will decide.

I like this piece a lot... I had a huge realisation recently during a ceremony when I was traveling where I realised how much I had taken food for granted..

I broke into tears as I was overwhelmed with shame and guilt!

Now I never take a bite without giving thanks first and acknowledging my blessing!

and of course... I wrote a spoken word piece about it too ha :D

The prayer that came to save me that morning was an old Hawain prayer called 'Ho'opono'pono' -

I'm sorry
Please forgive me
Thank You
I Love You

Keep up the great work as always and thanks for sharing this message.
