It honestly feel like last week that I wrote a New Year's Post on steemit for 2017 - and here we are about to clock 2018!
I did a post about getting one's financial house in order for 2017 - well, I hope I took some of my own advice and you did too!
2017 was an interesting year - 2018 is setup to be an astounding one.
My 2017 - What about yours?
Would love to hear some of the big happening of 2017 for you! In the meantime I will share some of the 2017 big moments that occurred for me.
2017 - The Career/Financial Highlights:
- The purchase of my 3rd rental property in February
- The end of my "day job" on July 1 after a 7 year run
- The publishing of my first real estate investing book ScaredyCatGuide to Investing in Rental Properties
- Crypto - Investing conservatively like a scaredycat but still producing 20x returns
- Creating the ScaredyCatGuide to Investing in Cryptocurrency Video Course
- Doing the Music and Money Radio Show every Tuesday on MSPWaves radio
- Most importantly - continuing to figure out if I can truly support myself without a "job."
On to 2018!
Very excited for 2018. I think its because I know the odds for this year either being life changing career/financial wise or a total bust are higher than they have ever been in my life.
Between crypto investments and all of the educational products I have put out there to help people I've setup myself up for success.
The million dollar question is whether those things will come to fruition - will my programs add enough value people are compelled to purchase them? Will the crypto market aggressively appreciate over the next 12 months?
These are the questions I await answers for over the coming year.
I've done all I can do on my end to set myself up for success.
The running joke from the man that is basically my adopted Dad:
- "You need to get a job again so you can stop working so much."
He could not be more spot on - busted my butt this past year providing value add content for people and actively investing in crypto. All I can do is keep grinding and let success inch closer and closer.
This Year is Gonna Be Big!
Happy New Year Everyone!
What are your 2017 highlights and Expecations for 2018?

Hey @scaredycatguide. That's quite an inspirational post. I, like many, admire you for freeing yourself from the shackles of a day job. It must have been stressful to do so. Definitely, it means hard work but in my experience, working for yourself comes with added drive and motivation; have you felt the same?
Perhaps writing about this experience alone would be of value to people. I'm often thinking of how I can monetize my skills to the point that I can at least reduce dependence on the corporate world... and how I'd feel about "making that jump".
I must confess that I didn't know about your 3rd property pickup in 2017. It's impressive. I take it you target positive cash flow as a priority? Are they geographically diversified to mitigate movements in local markets or impacts from local weather phenomena?
I wish you all the very best with the amazing work you've done. The SCG brand is a credit to you and it's obvious how much effort you put in; the radio show alone must consume a lot of your resources. I'm a big fan.
Resteeming to provide a little more well deserved exposure mate.

Much appreciated Man! Many hooks in the water to maximize odds are big success.
Yes, the energy you get from seeing something succeed that is your "baby" is something more difficult to find in the corporate world. I think it's the possibilities that really drives my motivation. There is no cap from a corp structure or hierarchy.
As of now everything is in Southern Fl. Its also why I havent grabbed anything else since February. I plan to diversify into the mid-west of the U.S. summer of 2018. Until then my focus is 100% crypto related.
Wishing you a prosperous 2018...especially with VW ;-)

You certainly have been a busy Steemian. Got a chuckle out of your Dad's comment. I'm retired and trying to learn about crypto and investing. My big thing is taking care of my real scaredy cats. Happy New Year.
