La tragedia del hombre comienza, pues la naturaleza es más fuerte. El hombre sigue dependiendo de ella que, a pesar de todo comprende en su seno al hombre, a la criatura. Todas las grandes cultura son otras tantas derrotas. Razas enteras, interiormente deshechas, quebrantadas, permanecen condenadas a la infecundidad, a la ruina espiritual, víctimas abandonadas en la arena. La lucha contra la naturaleza es una lucha sin esperanza; y sin embargo, el hombre la lleva hasta el final.
