BEWARE - These plants can KILL you!

There are thousands, of poisonous plants in the world, and some of them are deadly. Be careful what you touch, and what you eat. Some vegetation is as deadly as a bite from a venomous snake.

Some of this deadly plants is very common and you would be surprised to see it maybe a shrub in your garden or a pot plant in your lounge.

Conium (aka Hemlock)
If we're going to talk about poisonous plants, then right at the top of the list should be Hemlock. Hemlock's most famous victim was the philosopher Socrates. Digestion of even small amounts of coniine, causes death by disrupting your body's neuro-muscular junctions. It begins in a person's legs, and ascends up the body until in reaches the respiratory muscles and cause your death.

Hemlock again: Cicuta (aka Water Hemlock, death-of-man, poison parsnip)
In the root's of these plants you get cicutoxin and it is extremely poisonous. Eating of this you can die in a little of 15 minutes.First it overstimulating the central nervous system, leading to nausea, abdominal pain, respiratory impairment, kidney failure, irregular heartbeat, tremors, seizures, and death.

Nerium oleander (aka Oleander)is a shrub that been used all over the world for flower decorations.
The leaves ,flowers and the fruit of these shrub are extremely poisonous it cause cardiac arrest. The toxins in oleander are so strong that people have become ill after eating honey made by bees that visited the flowers! If eaten, oleander can cause vomiting, diarrhea, erratic pulse, seizures, coma, and death.

Ageratina altissima (aka White Snakeroot)
White snakeroot is so potent that just drinking the milk or eating the meat of a cow that's ingested the plant can lead to severe sickness and even death. In the early 19th century thousands of people die of White Snakeroot including Abraham Lincoln's mother, Nancy Hanks Lincoln.

Deadly Nightshade (Atropa belladonna)
Soldiers poisoned the invading Danes with wine made from the sweet fruit of deadly nightshade. It is the sweetness of the berries that often lures children and unwitting adults.Deadly nightshade has dull green leaves and shiny black berries it is about the size of cherries. Nightshade contains atropine and scopolamine in its stems, leaves, berries, and roots, and causes paralysis in the involuntary muscles of the body, including the heart. Even physical contact with the leaves may cause skin irritation.

Dieffenbachia (aka Dumbcane)
When leaves of the Dieffenbachia plant are chewed it leads to oral irritation, excessive drooling, and swelling. In rare cases, however, irritation becomes so severe that the tongue, mouth, and throat are effectively immobilized, while tissues become so swollen that the airways are blocked and it leading to death.

Ricinus communis (aka the Castor Oil Plant)
It is much like Oleander their seeds are actually very dangerous — so dangerous, in fact, that the plant is the current holder of the Guinness Book of World Records title for world's most poisonous plant.
These seeds contain ofincredibly toxic chemical called ricin, and a lethal doses of the seeds can lead to burning sensations in the mouth and throat, intense abdominal pain, and bloody diarrhea within 36 hours. If lead untreated you can die within 3-5 days.

Tobacco is the most widely grown non-food plant in the world. All parts of the plant, especially its leaves, contain the toxic alkaloids nicotine and anabasine, and can be fatal if eaten. Tobacco causes more than 5 million deaths per year.

Yeah, there are many deadly plants and shrooms. Never pick up shrooms if you dont know what shroom it exactly is.

Thank you for this post! I was just researching it due to a recent scare where a young girl had a dramatic seizure and respiratory failure after spending time down by our creek. We know we have hemlock here and thought she may have touched poison hemlock. Even TOUCHING it can cause these symptoms. Very scary. And it made us aware that we really have to be educated on all the plants here on this raw land we are trying to tame and put our homestead on.

Yes, a true miracle! But, we still are not 100% about the plant. We've brought it into different experts, but in the end I think we have to send the plant in for analysis whether the toxin is present or not.
