Every human being should spend a day every so often seeing where our junk ends up. We create, use, and throw out so many things! A look at our human detritus and you will see a world of forgotten opportunities and the real world of real work. This is the metal scrap yard.
If you work in an insulated modern environment it is easy to forget the implications of a large throwaway society. It doesn't have to be a negative experience leading to some sort of human self guilt. Embrace your ancestors love for the forgotten art of "reuse" .
Pictures cant describe how many "things" there are to look at. It is a mental exercise just to identify what a certain piece was in its prior life. Everything is cheap and sold by the pound. What can you redesign into your life?
Some items don't need a redesign, just a little rehab. Some grease, a new spring, or a sharpened blade might get you a more durable tool than the typical off the shelf new item.
There is extreme work done by large equipment. This gigantic gantry crane moves up and down the warehouse floor and has the ability to lift astonishingly heavy steel pieces and move them through the air with ease.
Every big municipal area generally has a metal scrap yard of sorts. It can reward you in the perspective that is served straight up. It can intrigue you with what you may find. Most of all it is a great way to break the mundane of ordinary life.
