Korean Dog Meat Farm Near Olympic Park @senseicat

in life •  7 years ago

Despite efforts by the Korean government to request restaurants to stop offering dog meat on their menus during the Olympics, it continues to be sold due to the demand, particularly from older Korean patrons.

Apparently, it is a generational preference as younger generations are not fond of it.

On a happy note, Meagan Duhamel, Canadian Olympic figure skater, rescued a dog destined to live in a dog meat farm.

The Korean government understands that most of the world frowns upon dog meat, but has been unable to banish it due to continued interest.

There are over 2 million dogs living in obscene conditions infiltrating diseases to both the dogs and people.

It's really sad...and it also makes me think- why is it sad to eat dogs? What makes them better then cows or chickens? They all have cosciousness. I need to get back on the vegetarian train. I was one for 12years but somehow fell off track.

True, we do worse against equally intelligent animals but we judge others doing the same. I am a principle vegan since long, and couldn't eat a shrimp any longer! I am glad to hear that others is thinking equally about it :)

Peace

At least if they want to treat dogs as livestock put them in good conditions, the cows in my university have huge ass space to run around and exercise, and when i mean huge i mean really huge, i got lost in the field once, took me 1 hour to find my way back

Let's come rescue our pets. Love that!

A group of Winter Olympic athletes, including Canadian figure skater Meagan Duhamel, freestyle skier Gus Kenworthy and snowboarder Lindsey Jacobellis took part in a recent public service announcement in a bid to raise awareness about the Korean dog meat trade. Duhamel already owns a rescue Korean dog.
