How could we not choose the Grand Canyon? One of the world's largest, Arizona's immense canyon stretches 277 miles long, 18 miles wide and a mile deep, featuring a bold natural palette of geologic colors and sculpted erosion.
You'll want the best views when staring into the depths of the Earth. Yaki Point in Grand Canyon National Park offers one of the most distinctive and elusive views from the South Rim. It's not accessible by private vehicle but can be reached via the park's free shuttle bus service.
Perched at 7,200 feet, gaze down on the dry riverbed of Cremation Creek to the east and look north toward Clear Creek drainage, surrounded by buttes and mesas. For hikers at Yaki Point, the 6-mile South Kaibab Trail descends 4,860 feet and is the trail that remains truest to an actual ridgeline descent into the canyon.

Been there twice, both times in the winter. That is a great time to beat the crowd. The downside is many trails are closed for safety reasons. And the north rim is closed. Our next trip will be this summer and we will focus on the north rim. I'm sure I'll post about it and I'll try to take some decent photos. Check me out next June if interested in the north rim.
