Today one of the YES scholarship exchange students, Sabika Sheikh from Pakistan fell victim during the Santa Fe High School shooting in Texas. Sabika was one of the 10 who were killed. My heartiest condolences come out to each of the students and teacher tragically killed in this incident. She came to the Unites States on a scholarship to live a year away from her family and friends. She was representing, living an experience, a new beginning and a new life only a few could experience. She only had 18 days left until reuniting with her family and friends back home. My deepest condolences to Sabika Sheikh's family, and her friends. No words can express the pain you’re going through. My heart goes out to you in your time of sorrow. Although I did not know her personally, it's beyond sad that she fell victim to such a devastating incident, that too, during the holy month of Ramadan. None of them deserved this. When will the country adopt gun control laws we have to wonder after so many youth have lost their lives to monsters using the weapon to easily take life without regret. May their souls rest in peace.
