Water crisis !!!

Pakistan has been declared in the drought danger zone, and if measures aren't taken quickly it will hace scarce water and declared a drought region by 2025. This has launched major concern among the government here and measures have been takrn to improve our water containinh resources which includes building more dams.

At the moment Pakistan has 5 dams mangla, tarbela, warsak, mirani and sabakzai. These are the major ones with many more in small quantity local dams are present. The problen here is that silt coming from the river indus which flows throughout Pakistan has made the total capacity of the dam less than half. Due to no proper maintenance the full capacity usage of these dams are deprived and almost 90% of the water in river indus is released to the sea, which is really not okay. The problem here isn't the lack of resource but the lack of proper planning and management by the government.

Just last week a petition was drawn by the chief justice of the supreme court to take funds and donations from people of Pakistan in order to pave way for two new dams tha basha dam and mohmand dam. Although the total cost of the two dams is expected to reach 1.4 trillion pkr. This campaign will pave way to the initial stance in the construction of the dam. These major projects can't possibly be done without foreign aid which as a citizen I am totally against. I feel as if we have the proper natural resources but due to severe corruption by our politicians we have come to the stage that we can't rely on just our own funds but have to reach out to the international community and take foreign aids. Since the announcement of the chief justice Dr.Saqib Nisar, there has been donations of almost 10 million pkr. The judge has given 1 million and our army has announced each soldier on ground will give his 1 day salary while the officers will give their 2 days salary. The Army Chief will give his entire months salary.

This reform has united the country as one while transactions are coming from all over the cpuntry and also from foreign citizens earning abroad. While this is just to boost the initial project it can be the pinnacle of starting this revolution of saving drinking water.
