OMG what a weird link! Yeah, that's definitely strange looking. It kind of reminds me of marketing A/B testing. Like soft-launching a campaign feature. Have you ever seen stuff like that? Marketing campaigns sometimes test out new ideas in small doses or on small/foreign audiences. It's why you end up with different food at McDonalds in Germany vs US, or even East Coast vs West Coast (the McLobster for instance). I've been exposed to a lot of that stuff in indie game marketing and that's what I thought of when I saw it... lol, but it just looks funny in the context of that article. It definitely looks strange, but to be honest I was expecting, like... a lie. Something like "I did not have sex with that woman, Mrs Lewinsky" or the like.
That twitter stuff just looks a lot like A/B testing that the campaign decided not to go with. Honestly, it's just to weird to be anything else...
But to answer your question: if this is the type of "lying" you were referring to (or saying "the biggest" to lost of stuff, which, c'mon, everybody does stuff like that: "Have you seen Rick and Morty? It's the best show ever!") then I would have to say no, I'm not really bothered by it. I don't think most people are bothered by those types of things unless they already have a bias that's inclined to be -- such as the author of the article you posted.
Now, if the Russia hacking narrative were actually true, that would be something that would bother me a great deal. I want you to know that I'm not being dismissive about Trump or giving him a pass. Honestly, if he's doing terrible stuff, I want to know. I'm not really a "Trump supporter" per-se.
As of right now, like I mentioned in the post, he appears to be destroying features of the government establishment that I despise or consider wasteful, and beyond that he's even doing a few things that I like. :/
Right? :) I'm well aware of A/B testing in the marketing sense. To me replying to a message that you yourself wrote pretending to be a fan of yourself is as blatant as you get. But the main reason I brought it up is because I think it's really funny.
As I told you, those are by no means all the examples. Pretty much every figure the guy cites is wrong. He has made a lot of claims about having plans in the campaign that it turned out he doesn't. Who knew health care was so complicated, right? ;) His Trump University thing was a scam. He promised to make donations to charities on multiple occasions but never did. He flipflops on issues like the war in the Middle East and worst of all claims he never held the other positon. That to me is a clear case of a Lewinsky level lie and worse.
Well Junior and others have already been caught lying about it...
That's how it seemed to me, too and that's why I was interested in your opinion about his lying that to me at least seems pathological.

I guess I look at Trump as sort of an enemy of my enemy, if that makes sense. He is an agent of chaos in a system that I consider damaging to human liberty and prosperity. When I see these names that I've always hated like Pelosi and McCain being completely toothless, screaming at the wind against a beast they don't understand (Trump), I feel a powerful joy.
When it comes to "scams" in business, negative legal allegations, and even that Twitter stuff, I don't see it as the acts of a man, but rather a brand. Trump is a brand, like Coke or Twitter, but also a human being -- in some ways he's kind of a manifestation of the laws that consider corporations to be "people".
(Had to leave suddenly, sorry for the weird response)

It does, it was also clear in your original post.
To my perception, it doesn't really matter if you look at him as a brand or as a person, not minding pumping out falsities, outright lies and scamming people is shitty behavior regardless of your status be it a brand, a private person, a company, corporation or organization. Integrity matters in all of those cases. Even if this is purely a brand and pure marketing, the fact that this person doesn't mind being the face of that brand speaks volumes about what they are and my conclusions are not positive.
Additionally, as there is no way to look into a person's heart or mind, we get nothing to judge them on besides their actions, so to me this is a distinction without a difference.
Those are really strange...
Your response seemed pretty on point ;)

So, I think what I was trying to say about Trump was that from a layman perspective, seeing a business fail looks like a personal failure. But, for me personally, I've cultivated a behavioral model that embraces the inevitable failures of life as opportunities for growth, and from my reading this is also a strategy of successful/wealthy people, so when I look at successful business people who have 100 failed businesses but 1000 successful ones, I see a net positive and I identify with that. You know?
So, in that sense, it's difficult to call someone a pathological lier in their business/public dealings, because it's a specific kind of approach to life. I don't know anything about Trump privately, but accounts of him from people who know him are generally positive from what I've seen, so I withhold judgement of his character in that regard. Other than that stuff I guess there's the Hollywood access tapes, which I don't really see as a big deal: I've known people like that and I've usually chosen not to hang out with them, but they always strike me as people who are trying to easy to get along with. I don't know.
I didn't like the whole MOAB thing when it first happened, but now seeing that ISIS no longer has a headquarters and is in full retreat... I don't know, maybe that worked. It's hard to say because I don't have the experience or expertise to know what's the right decision. I know that I don't like violence, so seeing a massive bomb dropped on people is disturbing, and also hearing about continued drone strikes is upsetting... but it's hard to judge with a sweeping brush, you know?
Thanks for your tempered conversation, by the way. It's been a pleasure so far :D

I do not see a good reason to conflate failure and lying. I actually have a very similar attitude towards failure, but it has nothing to do with what I'm talking about. When I say Trump University was a scam, I'm not talking about it being a business failure, I'm talking about it being a misleading and dishonest business venture. Taking any part in it, let alone being its owner and lending your name to it gives us a lot of information about what kind of person you are. And when one's history is full of things like that, it becomes safe to assume that this figure is indeed a liar. We're not talking about marketing here, we are talking about actions. It doesn't matter what kind of a person this guy is in his private relationships, his actions are what defines who he truly is, don't they. And if he's faking something, that just adds more insult to injury and ironically makes him even a bigger fraud.
Same here! Hearing the views of somebody with a vastly different opinion and view on something is something I always find interesting.
